*So far what I’ve experienced has been decidedly mediocre at best, farcical broken AI at worst. It feels like an open-city game from at least five years ago, possibly ten, in presentation, depth and delivery. That it runs at 30FPS is the least of its present problems, because at 60 and 90 its early hours will still be a bland, dated derivative of GTA. It’s going to have to significantly step up, introduce some novel and intriguing new elements, or at the very least embolden its story to the point where it has something meaningful to say, for it to recover itself in my eyes.

Mafia 3 isn’t the best open-world game I’ve played, but it certainly isn’t the worst so far. My review, which you can read next week, will be much more in-depth, but I still haven’t fully decided what I think of it yet. I know I don’t hate it, but I’m not sure if I love it either.

I really love the big, story-driven missions where you confront and kill one of the major characters along your rampage of revenge. Particularly awesome was one that took place in a creepy abandoned theme park that was partially flooded. Sneaking through various attractions and getting into gunfights in a carousel was original, memorable, and a ton of fun...That being said, the path to these big encounters isn’t nearly as exciting.

Unfortunately, I was less impressed with Mafia III's gameplay, which is mostly unremarkable--at least during the game's very earliest portions. As with most third-person open-world games, much of the action consists of running, shooting, and driving. At first, I found Lincoln's basic movements to be relatively clunky and imprecise. Similarly, I found the aiming slow and unresponsive even when I attempted to increase the analog stick's sensitivity.
Forbes has given the game 81/100 score on Xbox.
Gameblog.fr has given the game a 50/100 score on PS4.
Reviews are coming in.
While some may like his "style" of humor or reviews... a lot of people find him annoying and far too childish to take seriously.
Personally... I hate his videos. I have not finished one as he gets irritating after a while. When he "yells and gets angry" it's even worse. Acting like a spoiled child who didn't get their way is not entertaining.
All I know is... I'm enjoying the game.
It's not perfect, and there are issues with certain visual elements that I hope are fixed in future updates.
But... it's far from being the "worst game ever".
It's not amazing, but the story is great. Characters and dialog are solid. And, I perfer this style of open world content over random crap like playing darts.
Good for you. While i actually expect more from developers making open world games. This game is even worse than watch_dogs was. It is absolutely playable, no doubt, and i actually found watch_dogs to be an ok game. But there is something called value for money.
This game with all it's glitches is not worth 60$ and even more. For that sum of money people can and should demand a working product.
Not so. People have the right to demand a working product.
Well done 2k. Bad game AND BAD PC VERSION=TOTAL DESTRUCTION!!!
The review embargo was a really bad sign. "The Division" also had a review embargo ^^
The flow?. Right now there is more upvotes than downvotes on steam. But it is clear that this game is heading for a 60-72 metacritic score. Which is by no means good. Many have serious issues with the game, and the AI in the game is a disaster.
Ye he is. Probably coming in a few days, he is not going to be gentle on this one, that's pretty much certain. Totalbiscuit is not going to be kind either. His video should be out soon.
hahaha :D Added this video to my OP as well. Hillarious.
And this :)
