About the 60FPS patch (and how to get 60fps)

Well m8s, I'm sure most of you and frustrated that you're not getting 60fps. This game is pretty good graphically though isn't it? At least I think it is, and so it makes sense you can't run it like you could run older games. I'm not saying the game is optimized perfectly, but I do think some of you are overreacting to this. 2K was very quick on patching this for all of you so you could get 60fps, and now you're complaining that you can't run it. Well, I couldn't either, I only got around 40fps. But, after playing with some settings, here is what I found.

Turn OFF the FPS part, and just turn VSync on (vsync is a frame limiter that'll keep it to your screen's refresh rate). Use custom graphics and keep reflection quality and everything below it on LOW. Those 3 settings were what killed my performance, and everything but them is on max and I get a near perfect 60fps with my GTX 970 and i7-4790k. Of course this is just me though, try it and report how it works for you.

Basically, just play with the settings, maybe they did a crappy job at some settings performance, isn't that a little understandable? You'll just have to deal with having them on low for now, but does that really mean the whole game is a piece of ♥♥♥♥? No, because the game still looks beautiful and more importantly it's a really fun game (I speak for myself, but do you really think it's not?).

Give 2k a break, they did a crappy job testing the PC port apparently and it could/debatably should be running a lot better, but keep in mind that some settings are more demanding than others, and you'll just have to have a few on low, even with a high end system (and everything else still high!). But look, they're doing their best to make it right and care for their fans, they patched this issue within just a few days, and they have tons more FREE updates and features on the way. Some may say this was an incomplete game, and I can see that, but you can see they're still adding more, so stick it out, and don't get too pissed. Refund it if you must, but respect that they are trying to make this right.

Getting about 45 fps with that configuration.

But i don't mind really :D I got used to 30fps and i think the game is great. 2k def deserves a break. usually games this size have tons of bugs on launch. This game worked pretty much straigh-out-of-the-box. No way in hell i'm refunding this just for the fps lock. And i hope no one else is either.

People shuold really stop being such whiners.

Reflection Quality and Volumetric Effects are definitely the two KILLERS. If you turn those to Low, you can pretty much crank up the other settings and get a great frame rate. At least that's how it's been for me. I really would like to see the devs optimize those settings, because there's no excuse for a game that looks as average as this to perform so poorly unless specific settings are more or less nuked.

Yeah I'm actually debating just running on 30fps with everything else maxed, I got really used to it and it looked and played great for me. I could just go max and unlimited and be better with like 40ish but then it gets kinda weird when one minute its really smooth and then the next it just looks worse, kinda brings me out of it if it's not consistant.

Mine wont go past 30. I'm playing in 1440p.

a) Compared to the competition the game actually doesn't look good, texture quality is sub-par, the skybox is just awful, reflections don't work properly, lighting is strange and the draw distance is atrocious
b) Compared to said competition the game runs at significantly lower frame rates despite looking worse

There are two possible explanations for this:
1) The responsible people were not able to get it right
2) The responsible people didn't bother to spend the time neccessary

Yeah ive got to agree with this one... I think this game looks actually pretty terrible graphcially.

I mean look at grand theft auto 5 compared to this game, and its actually pretty mind blowing how bad this stands up to it.

The textures are just god awful. Literally no tesselation on things that should be 3 dimensions but just look totally flat and bland. Super low resolution texutres as well. The sky is just an absolute trainwreck.. The character models are horrid.... the list just goes on. :/

I had such high hopes for this game :(

you are wrong about Vsync going to MY screens refresh rate with the option Vsync in the game it caps me at 60fps my refresh rate is 165hz when i use Gsync it caps it at the proper 165fps

Hmm if that's the case and nothing else is causing it (like a setting in nvidia control panel or something), then that must be a glitch I didn't know about. Not like I can test it on this game since I sadly just have 60hz.

Also IMO the game looks a lot better than GTAV, the textures are awful, and sometimes the reflections bug out, but overall I think it looks better. Just me though.
