Game just won't launch
Everytime I go to launch the game, the launcher comes up nice and fast. I can move the cursor around and it highlights whatever it's over, and I can change the settings. However, when I go press "Start", my cursor starts to load, then... nothing. At all. I can look in my downloads and it says that I'm playing, then immediately goes to whatever it says when it's not being played but ready to play. I've verified game cache twice, reinstalled twice, updated drivers and even launch from Nvidia. What is going on and how do I fix this?

My game just started doing this. I've played for about 3 hours. Now it won't launch. Verified files and ran as admin. Still does not load.

There hasn't been any official word from the Devs whether or not they are even looking in the direction of a huge number of people that can't even launch the game. This is a common problem that affects a very large amount of people.

After installing the game 3 times after experiencing this issue, I made the DirectX exe that is in the Mafia 3 folder was installed and I also made sure the vc_redist files were installed as well. I think my issue with the game not starting was the DirectX for whatever reason but now my game runs and I can actually play.

*Broken fix. Mafia 3 will no longer launch. The “Microsoft Visual C++” was not a permanent fix.*

This is an inconvenience but it fixed the problem for me. The game launches and plays now.

I uninstalled everything that had “Microsoft Visual C++” in the title and reinstalled Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.

Rebooted my computer and the game launched with no problem.

I fixed my own problem by going to the vc_redist in Mafia III and running the program, selecting to repair issues.

Does that include removing all previous MVC++ installations prior to 2015?

Hi Pyro,

Thank you for contacting 2K Support, and I'm sorry for the delayed response.

I'm sorry to hear that you're unable to play Mafia III as the game is crashing upon start-up. I want to genuinely apologize that it was not listed in advance that you could not run the game if you have a Phenom 2 processor and that SSE 4.1 is not supported.

I want to thank you for alerting us about the issue you are experiencing. Because of the work of diligent players like you, we've been able to collect enough information about this issue to notify the development team, and they are currently working toward a solution. Unfortunately, we do not have visibility on their progress here in customer support, and so we don't have a timeline for a fix to be implemented. That said, please follow us on Twitter (@MafiaGame), as this is where new info as well as upcoming patches will be announced.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Thanks,

Jack M.

I did unintall all previous versions. I haven't seen any negative issues. I've been testing other games to make sure everything is ok.

Interesting, so I suppose I shall give that a try. But, so far has it run well for you? No crashing so far?

Welp. RIP. We'll have to wait on a patch from them to fix this.
