Driving Simulation vs Normal whats the difference?
Like I get that simulation will mean more realistic \ tighter contstraints but was wondering if anyone knew exactly what the difference is between the two.

The simulation is not as hardcore as Mafia 2 but it leans that way. Basically car handling requires more compensation when your turning, cars dont grip the road so tightly.

I found the cars take longer to get moving and slow down, maybe it's more for the players on consoles.
I believe you answered your own question with your question.

Cool, I just wasn't sure if it changed how cops would react, like if your speeding or running lights then maybe simulation means they will come after you?

Has nothing to do with either speeding or red lights. Actually i couldn't even feel an obvious difference between the two styles of gameplay. Game will still feel arcade , with almost perfectly balanced suspensions and unrealistic steering. I think vehicle physics is the biggest disappointment of this game, thus considering the perspective of an "oldfashioned" Mafia fan...

pretty accurate.
Cool Beans, now I'm just waiting for that patch to go live and read some results, before buying in.
There's a rather large difference between arcade and simulation handling. The most notable diffence is the inclusion of heavy automated countersteer. Arcade mode has heaps more traction than simulator, and will allow you to "point and shoot" the vehicle in any direction out of a corner. Generally when you go into a slide, the vehicle will face the same orientation it entered the slide, making it a lot easier to drift in and out of corners. Simulation handling requires some finesse with the inputs to drag your ass around the corners in the same way. Personally I use Arcade handling since it's just more fun to sit there with a controller. If I want a simulator I'll hook up my T300 and play some rFactor or Assetto Corsa. Mafia I and II were a lot better in the handling department. I want my mushy suspensions and this game just doesn't give.

So basically:

Arcade
  • Lots of traction
  • Vehicle rotation not influenced by throttle or brake
  • Heavy automated countersteer

Simulation
  • Less traction
  • Can steer with throttle and brake, brakes lock up (means you can donut with throttle alone)
  • Some countersteer, but less. (equal to automated countersteer of GTA V)
