So they're not direct sequel but main character of the first one appeared in the second one (as an older guy) and the second one will appear in third one.
where events from the first lead into the 2nd
or was it more just a cameo
like at the end its revealed the main from 1 is the new godfather, or just gives you a mission
or such
Basically carrying out the assasination from tthe Mafia 1 ending...
The main guy in Mafia 1 was in witness protection and was assasinated several years later at the epilogue of Mafia 1. In Mafia 2, you'll see this from a different viewpoint, the main protagonist of Mafia 2 is one of the two guys that assassinated the protagonist of Mafia 1
ie, same setting, same gamplay, but unrelated storyline
Yes. Except maybe 2 and 3 is more related because the protagonist of 2 will play bigger role in 3 than the protagonist of 1 in 2.
is it deeply story driven
like crysis, masseffect, or deadspace, where even though your getting a mission
then running about, you stil taking an active role in the story
or are you basically a tool being given arbitrary missions in order for the next cutscene
to play some disembodied story
i mean, in mafia 2 that 1 mission that give a throwback to mafia 1 ending was not expended on, it was there more for the sake of throwback.
