I having the same problem! Do you still have this bug?
but then again, it's also quite buggy, so it could be a game bug.
Same for me!
I spend more the 3h to find the Problem.
There is nothing wrong with your PC specs.
Try to delete all vcredist 2010 /12 /13 /15 and replace it with the newest Version of that.
Now I can run Mafia 3 without any kind of Problems or chrash to Desktop.
Hope that will help you.
if you run the game in windowed mode does it still freeze up the whole thing?
Its really strange because I have a really high end PC.
i7 5930k @ 4.6ghz
16Gb 2400mhz DDR4
Aorus GTX 1080Ti running at 2012mhz
Dont have issues with any other games I play and I have quite a few.
The fault was a sata2 port, all the other sata3 and sata2 ports were fine, but as soon as my pc wrote data though the faulty port (hdd and ssd) everything froze and I had to hold to case button down to reset.
Is your game on a non os drive.
In my case, the problem was completely solved by downgrading the Realtek audio driver to the version provided by the motherboard manufacturer.
