Mafia 1 back on steam
If they put Mafia 1 back on steam they would make so much money back from the refunds of mafia 3, i loved mafia 3 and torrented mafia 1 and loved it but now i want it on steam. Im willing to pay whatever amount they give as long as its reasonable. Anyways we should start a petition to get mafia 1 back if anyone knows someone or wants to start a legit petition do it and make 2K know about it!

There has been a lot of petitions and shouting, at the end 0 result/answers. Not sure why, since like you said, a lot of people are willing to pay for it, and are still interested in that game.
If everyone is correct, Mafia: coLH has been removed due music license issues. Someone mentioned that the problem is bigger then it looks like; they can't remove the music because they have lost the original gamefiles. Others say they simply don't think its worth it. 3th option is that they are working on a remaster and therefore don't put the original back on the market, altho I doubt that.

I still really want to have the first Mafia on my Steam account, so that's the reason I respond again in a topic like this. It's better to shout now and then, than be silent about it.
And yeah, I would pay 20-25 euro for the original version of Mafia: coLH, and even 40-50 euro for a remake version, if it looks like Mafia 2 I would def pay that amount for it.

So yeah, still got hopes, but honestly doubt we'll ever be able to own Mafia on steam.
If they decided to released Mafia 1. Its better if they bundled it with Mafia 2 and make it an enhanced version so it can be played on Windows 8 and 10.
I hope so. I would love to buy it & have it on my steam account

I just finisht Mafia 2 on Win 10. Works perfect. Besides it still looks great if you ask me, altho it could run a bit smoother overal (had some FPS drops now and then, while my PC-setup is kinda overkill for the game). So yeah they could make a bundle non the less, but Mafia 2 doesn't need a lot of work, maybe a little bit optimization, but that should be a free update rather than an enhanced edition. Mafia: coLH really could use an enhanced edition and I'm sure that a lot of people are going to buy it, when the story and all are exactly the same, but it only looks a lot better and runs smooth on the latest systems. Like I said, I would def pay up to 50 for it. Maybe even 60, since it's 1 of my most beloved games ever. But I wouldn't complain if they bring back the original, since I just really want to have it and play it again.

Yes I agreed. A patch to enhanced Mafia 2 will be nice indeed! but 50-60 euro for Mafia 1 a 2002 game is too steep man. I'm willing to pay 5.99 at the most :)

I have Mafia 2 as well in my steam library. Bought it when I was running on windows 7. Maybe I will reinstall the game and relive back Vito Scaleta story!! :)

I have Mafia II in my account too & I must say it's awesome when you compare it to mafia III.
The only bad feature is that the city is not very useful and you can't use it a lot since the game has only 14 chapters & there is no side mission! but graphics & music & gameplay?? it's great!
Yeah I'm talking about the enhanched edition. That means that they have to rework everything into better grapics, cost a lot of man labor. So that will at least be towards 30 euros, maybe even more if they really need to build it from the ground up again. I wont mind a 50/60 euro tag since I really really would love an enhanced edition.
For the original version I would still pay up to 20 euro for it. For 5.99 they will never bring the game back on steam, too much hassle for too little money.

You know what, maybe those guys that do the sweetFX can tweak the Mafia 1 graphics. Who knows? do it for free :)

Simpler way is to force the texture to clamp and set the anisotropic level to 16 in the display card control panel, the Mafia looks amazing.

1930s music is public domain though? o.o
You can still sort of buy it, If someone has it as a gift in their Steam inventory you can buy it from them and then do it that way, People charge stupid amounts for it i've seen people pay 100's for it. I would not recommend doing this though

Yeah, not all if I'm correct. Thanks to Disney, they lobby the fck out of the owners rights. Which in music case, is almost always in the hands of the bigger music labels. Not sure if all has the same rules as in owner rights, but if I remember correctly, its lifetime + 70 years before it's public domain. As long as you fight for the rights that is.

I don't think there are a lot of people still owning a Mafia: coLH gift copy. Most will probably trying to scam you, and simply don't have it at all. Also, I refuse to pay such an amount to someone who doesn't have to do fck with the game. It's sad that they force fans of the game to spent that redicilous amount of money. Another reason they just should bring back the original, if u ask me.

Ahh gotcha'.
There's some licensing or copywright issue, but I forget the details and I'm sure it's googleable if you really want to know. (EDIT) Er, I guess dyro already answered about that.I have it in my library because it's an old favourite and I snapped it up when they offered it.

Lucky. I really hope they do re-release it some day.
