A lot of PC owners barely understand how to turn the computer on, let alone how to turn it off.
I have owned a computer since 1982 (where I wrote my first games) and in the computer industry professionally since 1996. And strangely enough, of the computer professionals I know, none of them use their home computer (if they have one) to play games, or even have a home computer other than for basic email or internet use.
I agree that "normal users" normally don't know how to do these things, but I'm talking that an average PC gamer who know how to install a game in a custom directory, can understand this simple guide without without need of any detailed explanation, precisely about the directory that they have to write. Anyway, it's resolved now.
The fix works, but I bet your problem is due to Steam, it's strongly not recommended to install any software or game in an external hard disk. The only solution I can think of, it's reinstalling the game in C or D (it doesn't matter the letter), what I mean is, not in an external disk.
Entering the correct path to your game install is critically important.
Saying it is not working, then not saying what you are entering, compared to where you have the game installed, does not help anyone help you fix the issue your having.
Where is the game installed?
From your steam library tab, right-click on the game and select
>Manage >Browse Local Files
That opens where your game is installed.
It should then provide a link to the folder path, which you can click on and copy.
Stupid launcher. It added nothing but problems for paying customers. F**king game companies.
This is exactly where my game is installed. Even copied the filepath from the browser. However, I'm still getting an error message upon trying to start the game.
It worked for me two days ago.
Go to steam library, then right click mafia 3 then properties and paste this command to the launch options
If you had it, then do you have an Nvidia GPU?
The game runs fine on my Radeon.
Check also if your game is in a custom folder or different hard disk (almost sure it won't work in an external disk). Be patient before commenting here that it's not working. It works and it will continue working if the command is well linked to the launcher executable!
