Try to verify integrity of game files first. If everything is ok and when you are done, first try the game now.
If not, I can suggest that you try one possible solution.
Go to the map where your game is installed and find folder "packages". Mine is here: "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mafia III\edit\audio\packages". Your path should be the same ...steamapps\common...
There you'll see a lot of different folders for languages. Those folders are large in size actually so to avoid another pointless download, just cut/paste every folder that you don't want (i.e. leave english only) to another location as a backup. Other files that are not sorted in those folders leave as is and don't remove them. Once you do that, start your game and see does it work.
The reason I think this can help is that you somehow force the game to "look" at the specific and only possible language, which is english in this situation. I hope it'll help you.
Done that. Verifying files resulted in no missing files. Deleting the voicepackages except english results in no audio at all. Seems 2k has f-ed up...again.
This may sound stupid, but what is the main language in your Operating system?
I am from Croatia, but I use English language as the main one. Maybe it can work if you install additional language to your OS and use that one?
I said, it sounds stupid, but nothing else comes to my mind in order to fix the language in this game. Even though it shouldn't be this way. But if you want to try it...
That's what I thought too, but I won't change my OS language for one game if they just can't fix it. I mean it worked fine with the original Mafia 3, how could they f*** this up? I try reinstalling. If this won't help I play in german with bad voiceaction or just not at all. ^^
Good luck!
Seems I somehow missed it completely. Under game settings was an option called "reset language". Somehow overlooked it. Now it's in english.
