Startup hangs on black screen

I've been experiencing a problem where on startup it appears to hang on a black screen. If you do some messing around with the focus alt tabbing, sometimes you'll see the loading credits, but they'll be frozen or super slow and never really load.

For others experiencing this problem, my solution has been the following.

-Start in windowed mode (steam launch options add -windowed to force it every time)
-Use Borderless Gaming to run it in Borderless Window mode (since the game doesn't have it by default)

If you don't want to use Borderless Gaming, You might be able to switch to full screen after entering the game windowed and be able to play for the session, but I'd expect any alt-tab-ing would cause issues :|

I've found just closing the game via Taskmanager then restarting the game works.
due to time of released i wouldn't of expected to be doing this each time.

Hat off though maybe its the updates to the game or other driver updates but it does look better and the smaller sounds like wind are easily heard.

Happens to me too. The weird thing is that my laptop with a 2070 runs the game perfectly. My desktop fails to launch with a 2080TI and i9-9900K. weird.

Something I get is when I open the launcher and it tells me, my system is below the minimum requirements for the game which isn't right since I can play Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Wolfenstein 2 The New Collossus and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider without issues.

Happens every time to me.. sometimes 8 times before the game runs. And when it does run, the graphics settings have changed and its in windowed mode. When i go to change these things it freezes and crashes. Usually takes me 10 or 15 minutes to get the game running smoothly how I want... All the Mafia D.E.s have been like this for me. They all run poorly.. but there GREAT games.. Hanger 13 or 2k really ♥♥♥♥ the bed with compatibility.,
