Button Prompts no longer appearing [solved]

So after digging around more found the solution that worked for me. Just like recommended before un-tick the Controller Configuration in Steam Big Picture, then in
'C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\<steam profile No>\profiles\temporaryprofile\'
find file 'gameinputmodule.pf' and delete it, then launch the game.

[Original Problem]
None of the button prompts are appearing in the game.
Not really sure when this started happening, but it seems it has something to do with Steam Controller Settings. As By default it was set to Xbox controller and all Xbox Controller prompts would appear, but none for PC (would use keyboard and mouse, but prompts would only show for Xbox One controller)
Read on the discussions before that in Big Picture -> Controller settings should untick all controllers, so it would go back to normal, but what this did is just made all controller prompts disappear completely.

In the game when going to settings in the game the Keyboard options are greyed out, like there is no keyboard connected, so cannot even check or change bindings. When trying to change Controller settings it launches big picture where it says 'Configuration Support Disabled'.

Already tried verifying game cache and re-enabling the option in Big Picture, but still the issue persists.

Not sure what Steam or this game did but it seems that the whole Steam Big Picture Controller settings are just not working with this game, is there any way to completely disable Steam from trying to set custom settings for controller and just go back to normal, and to restore button prompts in this game, as currently it is basically impossible to play without stupidly pressing every single button to see what action it does.

This happened to me as well. Been seeing a few bugs in games since the big picture/Controller configuration update.

I've managed to find a workaround and it's simply disabling the built in steam controller configuration. just go to steam > Settings > controller. under controller configuration, click general controller settings.

A window will pop up that looks like big picture mode, all you have to do is untick xbox configuration support (or whichever is ticked, depending on what controller you're using) and then all should be well. The only problem with this is it means that any other games you play that you might be using this new feature with will mean you'll have to turn back on again or try something else.

I already performed this and it resulted in all prompts disappearing (so additionally xbox controller as well to already missing PC one's). Tried redownloading game (was not fun) and the issue is still there no prompts at all. Really not sure what else to do.

Ok so now with the new steam overlay. How do i get there. I can find the gameinputmodule file no problem. But with the new big picture mode and new steam interface. The controller input as was before is not showing up. Please help.

From the Library list, right click on the game and go into properties/settings.

On the window that opens there is a controller tab.

I don't use controllers so that is where I go to turn them off if needed in steam games.
