Xbox One Controller No Button Prompts
Hey, I just started the game and I see no button prompts coming up for doing anything. I am unable to continue playing the game because the buttons that correspond to the actions do not work. Does anyone have a fix?

That will work so long as you're not using aim assist, it also breaks a few mother minor controller functions like toggle wiretap in the map menu.

The best solution right now is to turn off the Steam overlay. Open Steam > Games Library > Right click on Mafia III > Properties > General > Uncheck "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".

If you enabled the xbox controller under general controller settings, you will need to disable that as well. - This message was from another user. Hope this helps.

I'm up to three games now. Though, I have found out, I only have needed to go into Big Picture mode and go into the game configuration, Controller Options, and uncheck "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers". It's a pain that you have to go into each game, though.

Too bad that that only works if you turn the xbox controller support on in steam....otherwise you get only that

But why would one enable that if every single gamepad compatible game works out of the box with it?

You sir, are a remarkably asinine cretin. It is quite impressive.

BEST SOLVE: Click on Mafia III in your library, disable the steam overlay -- all the foolishness and fruckery with the sensitiy controls goes away.

Wait.. Steam is now forcing you to configure gamepads via Steam? Wtf would you want to do that for anygame that *is* compatible with pads?

I was able to fix the issue by right clicking on Mafia 3, choosing properties, and NOT enabling steam overlay while in game.

right click on the name of the game on the left hand side, click properties, go to controllers, turn off steam input, restart game, boom! tested with wired and wireless after tabbing between screens

Just found how to fix this.

Go to general controller setting and unselect all the controller
then ok and run the game again.
