Report a translation problem
The best solution right now is to turn off the Steam overlay. Open Steam > Games Library > Right click on Mafia III > Properties > General > Uncheck "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".
If you enabled the xbox controller under general controller settings, you will need to disable that as well. - This message was from another user. Hope this helps.
Too bad that that only works if you turn the xbox controller support on in steam....otherwise you get only that

But why would one enable that if every single gamepad compatible game works out of the box with it?

Go to general controller setting and unselect all the controller
then ok and run the game again.
