[FIX] Infinite loading screen.

Today, I started facing the infinite loading screens.

After doing 45 minutes of research, repairing game files using the method described countless times, nothing worked for me. Tried deleting the 2 cache and txt files in the game's folder, nothing. Nothing did solve the issue for me.

After that, I went through a painful process that required me to lose the last 2 hours of gameplay. But I managed to got it all working back since by the grace of a higher power, a backup of my saves were on the game's save folder - I recently did export all of my games to a steam backup - migrated to raid 0 in 2 SSD's.

TL;DR:

1 - Go to C:\Users\YOUR WINDOWS USER\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\OH YES I HAVE NUMBERS A LOT OF THEM ACTUALLY\gamesaves\default\aslot

2 - Create a backup of the save files that are inside aslot folder. Me personally, I created a backup folder inside aslot and copied all files there. Delete the non-backup ones from aslot folder

3 - Fire up Mafia 3

4 - Start a new game, wait for the game world to load, close the game

5 - You should have some new files inside aslot

6 - Fire up Mafia 3 again

7 - Copy the backup save files back to aslot

8 - Delete (or overwrite if they got the same name) those new save files that got created inside aslot

9 - Continue your old game

This worked for me, with a little variation since my saves were save 0 (0), save 1 (1) and save 2 (2). Just played with the names around a bit. Step 8 was a bit different on my side but the essence remains the same.

Let me know if my pain helps you out, so we can all work on the fix 2K Games is never going to deliver - same as the in-game train and AI people that aren't actually simple.

Didn't work for me - I died during Olivia mission and was stuck in infinite loading. Applying this fix made me spawn in the first location in the game but the Olivia mission was still active and I couldn't really do anything - after few steps Lincoln was doing a little dance by turning into the camera and raising his hands up...

What actually helped in my case: I've downloaded a trainer and run the cheat for infinite health, I've loaded the game and spawned in the mission at the moment when I was supposed to put the bottle on the table and one bodyguard was hitting me while 2-3 others where shooting at me. God, this game is crap...

Hope this will help someone.

I used the trainer from https://www.gry-online.pl/S030.asp?ID=64055, my antivirus did not found anything so I hope it is safe.

It seems that the problem is caused by another ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bug in this piece of ♥♥♥♥ game.
I entered the room, put wide bottle on the table and after small fight I died.
After reload I was instantly dead so I used idea from Andrzej.
Then I was in the same place and I had to place the bottle on the table but it was not possible because they were already shooting at me. It took me about 15 minutes just to find a way to put it on the table because every bullet cancels action.
This game is garbage. I regret paying anything for it. Smaller bugs that need game reload are one thing but in this case it's more than enough. I've spent 60 hours playing this game and I just want to finish it but now I don't even want to waste time on any side missions. Just finish what I started and get rid of that piece of crap I payed. I won't buy anything made by Hangar 13 again.

Thank you Bury Tomorrow, your method worked for me! I strangely lost my progressions with the "collections" (playboy, vargas, etc.), but at this point i really don't care. I just want to finish the main plot and the "sign of times" one, and thanks to you i can now :D
Anyway, it is a shame that users have to find the right way to go through a game-breaking bug with a game that is supposed to be triple A...

None of these workarounds worked for me. Steam kept replacing the saved games with cloud data, despite deleting it and emptying the recycling bin. I tried moving the saves around and starting a new game, no dice. The cloud feature created problems. I also verified game files, but Steam found no problems. I had to disable Steam Cloud in the games properties screen on Steam to get the game to honor my save game folder files. I deleted 2 saves that had similar time-stamps and left a single save file that was from 20 min prior to the other two. I also deleted the profiles folder for good measure. My game finally loaded, but I had to configure my video, subtitle, and graphics settings. I died during the boxing match mission and that's where I got the endless load screens. Hope this helps.

I've found an easier fix:

1. GoTo: C:\Users\x\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\#\gamesaves\default\aslot

2. Check the dates created of all 3 saves (0, 1 and 2) and delete the newest one

3. Copy + Paste the 2nd newest save game and rename the copy, so that you have save0, save1 and save2 once again

4. Resume playing. Worked for me :)

(may be necessary to do the copy/rename while the game is running. Was for me, but not sure if its needed).
