How does multiplayer work?
It seems very clunky. I cant seem to join my friends private camp and he cant join me.

Are there anything we need to do befor we can?

Edit: IT says I dont have authorization to join.

i was having a similar problem. instead of saying no authorization. i would accept an invite to a game and it would just create a game instead and if id accept another invite it would just create another session. My items also didnt carry over and my progress doesnt save on my online camp

You need to press the button above tab click manage community then click the top arrows and scroll to where it shows all your friends you click the plus click on what of the perms. (depending on what you want to give them ) Then invite and your done. Warning : It might take a few times for it to connect/show the server. Hope this helps

BUMP

So I saw "16 player" quoted? Is this a full 16 multiplayer experience? Or just alimited 16 player? What I mean by this is: I saw mention of 16 players being able to share a camp.... so is only the camp shared?

Also, is this limited to 4 players locally x4 online hookups? Or can you play a LAN/Internet connection with any combination of the options? (for example, 2 people locally playing with another 3 locally, with another 11 all on their own PC?)

The inviting of people into the same instance sounds a bit confusing, but as long as it works and gets tweaked in time, that sounds good. I currently own the game, love it, but teh MP is what I"m really looking at trying. Also need to know how many copies is ideal vs. wasting time (like 2 local players = 1 game copy).

NVM... I just found this article.... is this how things still are, or are there current changes that have been made since last year?

4 local players = 1 game copy

4 online players in a camp with every local co-op slot = 16 players

Otherwise, it's only 4 online players.

So if you have 3 friends, you can join a camp and have them play local co-op with you and it counts as 1 player slot for the online camp system.

Depending on your club's gaming tastes, I'd suggest Project Zomboid for your "massive co-op" game. You can setup a private server and host as many players as you want/can on it.

Otherwise, you might all have to crowd around a few TVs with wired/wireless controllers to play some 16-player co-op
