where is the shard of flint

go to the starting area with the kovac head on map where you did tutorial missions, from there go down until you stumble upon dry river patches (as I like to call it) and search them, there is plenty of flint

Everywhere on the camp-map. You can find brown 'quarry' like groves, wich are dried up riverponds. You can find flint commonly there. :)
