Am I doing something wrong?
I feel like this is very repetitive. Looks like the devs got a ton of ideas but failed to deliver most of it and just packed them up in an odd manner. At the begening its fine you build your camp with different crafting stations but at some point, level 20 for me, you have to do the same missions again and again to get enough materials to build your camp and upgrade it to be able to craft gears of your level.

I constantly have to replay certain missions to get the parts we need to keep my base "up to date" For example, steel pistons, just to level your trunk from level 30 to 40 you need like 30 pistons, the best mission for pistons only gives 10 so I had to do it 3 times, JUST for the trunk.
some other buildings requires less pistons but still need 10 from level 30 to 40 so thats another run of that mission for each stations. It takes at least 100+ pistons to level you camp from level 30 to 40 which is rediculous, besides, why on earther would anyone need that many pistons to build a base? O.o

The crafting system, seem flawed to me, by the time you are able to craft the last piece of the armor set you are wearing (the helmet) you can already craft two armor pieces from the higher level set, why?

The chemistry table, from level 30 to 40, you learn nothing new, same with the cooking station if I remember correctly, thats just silly.

I'm still enjoying this game alot but some aspect of it are very frustrating.

The game is a grind, no question.

The question was never about enjoying the game or not but about how repetitive/grindy it is, you completly missed the point and made an irrelevant comment, I simply pointed that out, obviously you only read the title and maybe a few lines before you replied.

Answering my question "Am I doing something wrong?" with " You're doing something wrong because after 1k hours I still enjoy the game was plain stupid and useless, if you cant see that or cant admit it, thats on your problem, go enlight other poeple with your wisdom, rofl.

Not gonna disagree with you, the game is grindey, no doubt about it. I feel tho its YOUR job to keep the fun. The devs certainly included more then enough stuff to do to keep you occupied. If you tunnel vision and only focus on upgrading your camp as quickly as possible you ll burn out eventually because you do only 1 or 2 things (the most effective ones....) which becomes boring as hell fast.

Diversity is the key word.

Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, World of Warcraft, any given MMO really and so many other games. They all live from the grind but offer you different ways to aquire stuff. If I feel like I cant see the game anymore I take a break or call it quits till another evening when my batteries are recharged.

Works for me, everybody has his/her own routine to handle these things.

Keep your chin up mate and enjoy the game, you ll "win" eventually anyway, no need to race it

If repeatitive grinding games aren't your cup of tea, yeah, you have done something wrong.

1) You choose the wrong type of game. This is a mission based game with resource collecting for crafting. The developers choose to make the game in such that repeatitive grinding is needed to progress. I'm not here to discuss if their decission is wrong or not (TBO, I don't like grinding games, too, but not as far as hating them anyway, I just play HTS2 when I have lots of time to kill), but it is indeed how the game was designed.

2) You should also done substencial amount of research on the games you are about to purchase, if getting the right type of game is so importent to you. In many occasions in this forum, players have mentioned the repetitive and grind-ish nature of this game. IIRC, some game reviwers in well known gaming websites have mentioned this in their reviews, too.

For me, I always read at least 5 reviews before purchasing a game that I'm not sure if it's what I'm looking for.

3) After realizing you may have paid money for a game that you may not like, you should get a refund from Steam (if it is still within the allowed time frame), as soon as you realized the game deffered from your liking, not keep playing untill it's too late, and still pondering: "I don't feel fun at all, am I doing something wrong?".

4) When a refund is impossible, you should try to look at the game at another perspective and try to appreciate the game in its good side (fun zombies shooting, with whatever style you are prefered in). Keep gripping on the bad side won't help you get the most value out of your spend money.

In fact, you are not asking: "Am I doing something wrong?", but what you really asked is: "Why the developers have to design this game in a way I don't like?".... Well, lets just hope you can still get a refund for HTS2, then.

I am one of the people who HATE to spend money on stuff they dont need/like so even throwing out miniscule amounts of money makes me frustrated if its a waste. As such I go into considerable effort to figure out if a game is for me or not before I commit.

For how to survive 2 it went like this.....

1. spotting the game in a screenshot and it looked like a ARPG
2. read the game description
3. read some reviews. Most helpful first then going over the last 30 days only regarding the negative ones to see if anything substantial has changed recently
4. watch a couple gameplay videos to see the mechanics in action
5. at this point I usually flag the game and wait for a sale, I already have tons of good games I never touched because who has all the time?

The above procedure still doesnt ensure I end up with games I like, gameplay can be deceltive and you never know how YOU like the handling of the game once you do it personally but it helps tons to avoid easy mistakes.

Know what you get into. This game is a grind. That doesnt make it bad nor does it put me off but tastes are different. If I m not into this kind of games I made a mistake or maybe the publisher "tricked me" but in case of HTS2 the game doesnt really try to hide its nature.
