Check your notebook, it will tell you where you collected the most of each resource. You can also do quest from "The Fan" that give you 25x Cloth which can be used to craft Braided Ropes.

i usually do the first improvements quest. cause you always need big pieces of wood and what some people dont understand is that you get the ropes and wood you pick up ALONG with the quest rewards. so you get like 6 (pick up 3 and you get 3) braided rope and some cloth which can be used to make more.
