Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing

This costing money is a joke
This is legit slop that steam should take down as it barely even does anything outside of compatibility.

Remember Flight Control? That flight sim game that was so buggy and terrible Steam removed it?

This is a similar situation and Steam allowing it on the store with a cost in the first place is absolutely unacceptable.

No I don't want to hear about the meme factor. That is irrelevant.

At the end this game is a total mess and should have never been sold to begin with when it released and it sure as hell hasn't been improved enough by this publisher to be worth anything now.

That's called denial.

Don't buy it if you don't want it. If you are afraid this could be recommended to you by Steam's automated systems, ignore the game, and you probably won't run into games like this.

I have to admit that shovelware on Steam is a nuisance to me as well, but as far as it seems, the whole purpose of this release was to revive abandonware that, clearly, still has fans despite being yet another shovelware. That's the difference. (Edit: I think the UE5-based launcher addition makes this the worst re-release imaginable, which is perfectly in character, funnily enough.)

If I do say so myself, this has a lot more historical value than [insert 2024 AI slop game here], anyway. It goes back to more a more physical time when mistakes like this were a lot more costly than they are nowadays, and just the fact it exists makes it all the more interesting.

The people buying this generally have the expectation that it sucks, because it's a well-known example of a rushed and incomplete game from the 2000s. If anything, this enables more people to experience just how bad it was.

there are multiple layers of irony to that launcher that make it so ridiculous its almost worth the price of the game in itself

its supposed to be a self aware purposefully ugly windows 98 era gag but it was so badly slapped together the mute button quadruples the volume when you unmute, you can open multiple instances, sometimes it doesnt close until you kill it in task manager, it ran at like 500fps at launch and it still managed to trip a bunch of anti virus programs

but i cant tell if it was intentionally made ♥♥♥♥ or if it got rushed out for an april fools deadline

like it is peak

where does the meme end and the awful game begin?

It should've costed something like one buck (as a way to pay for modern OS compatibility).
