Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Game Won't Launch
When I launch the game a pop up that has artwork and the name of the game on it. It is a small rectangle on my screen. The problem is that this pop up keeps disappearing and reappearing several times for about 30 or 20 seconds. After this it gives up and stops appearing at all and steam gives me the green play option again.

I have tried changing the settings in files such as WindowMode, Vsync and resolution dimensions. I have also tried running steam and/or R6 as administrator and trying compatibility mode and using the "disable fullscreen optimizations" option.

Sometimes the game actually does launch but it just shows the blue loading screen saying connecting to servers at the bottom and then crashes in a few seconds. I have already updated my graphics drivers.

Hello there,

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing this kind of crash.

To help with the issue, could you please start by performing the general steps mentioned here: {LINK REMOVED}

If that persists, please try performing a SFC scan that will check the integrity of the system files: {LINK REMOVED}

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers.

The SFC scan said that it found corrupted files and repaired. My game is still not launching, although it only crashes on Vulkan mode now. In regular mode steam says the game is running even though there is no application open.

Update: I saw several times that a solution was to close MSI Afterburner and ignored it. I do not have MSI Afterburner but I just checked what the program is and realized that it is software to control GPU operations. The program that I have that does something similar for AMD was also running in the background as I tried to launch R6. Closing this program allowed me to get to the blue loading screen where the game says it is connecting to servers or updating and then it crashes. So I guess I am a bit further!

Update: My game works fine now as far as I can tell. The fix was basically closing all my background tasks in task manager that weren't crucial like system tasks. I'm not sure which task it was but if it helps I think the ones I closed included ICUE, Gyazo, D3D gear, and some others. If I find which one it is I will post again.

If anyone cares, it turned out to be D3D gear. I think because it had an overlay to show FPS. Basically don't have anything open that uses overlays on your game if its not launching.
