Unable to move & key bindings changed to controller layout | PLEASE POST HERE!
Hello everyone!

I have noticed an increase of reports regarding being unable to move, due to your key bindings expecting the use of a controller.

An investigation is ongoing. In the meantime, the following steps should help -


1. Connect then disconnect a controller (if you have one available)

- Quit the game
- Plug in a controller
- Launch the game
- Navigate through the in-game menus
- Unplug / disconnect the controller
- Play a match and your M+KB should now work

This has helped some players however we don't yet have confirmation whether this fixes the issue, or if you will need to do this every time you play.

My second suggestion is to create a new save / profile. This will reset your in-game settings which should resolve your issue, however please note it will also reset your Situations progress & loadouts.


2. Reset profile

- Quit R6S and Uplay
- Created a backup of your save folder

Ubisoft Connect / Epic Games Launcher: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<uplayid>\635
Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<uplayid>\1843

- Launch Ubisoft Connect as administrator, then disable cloud synchronisation
- Launch R6S (notice settings, loadouts & Situations have been reset)
- Adjust an operator loadout
- Exit the game, then re-enable cloud synchronisation
- Launch the game once again
- You should now be prompted which save file the game should use. Select Local save

I did the first and it worked even after i restarted my game, however I did have my controller on the whole time so that may have affected it. I also did the second to reset my account but that didn't work. (I think I did something wrong with the files)

Edit: I fixed the problem with saving profile with this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PHj943_zug it was very easy to use to.

Thank you for posting your video bread, hopefully this will be another method that can help stop other players computers detecting controller inputs, whilst we find a more permanent fix for this new issue. Thanks for sharing.

yeppp I've definitely been having this issue for a while now and it's driving me nuts. I've never even used a controller on this laptop and yet it's showing a controller layout. i reinstalled twice, and the first time it still didn't work. After the second reinstallation, it worked until i opened the game a second time.

this started for me a few days ago and iv'e looked all over the internet and found nothing iv'e tried everything i can think of but nothing works. i haven't been able to play r6 since it happened. i can move my mouse but nothing else works.

its been much longer for me and i havent really touched it since either. ontop of that, i keep getting a notification at the startup saying that my profile loading failed and that if i continued id lose progress or something. i dont actually lose any save data, but basically I'd need to recustomize all my operators again each time i start up the game..

The "reset profile" steps listed above should resolve that issue for you; you won't be given a profile error anymore.

still the same for me T_T) every time im open the game i cant move using keyboard and mouse the icon turn into joystick...change the profile file still the same

Hello everyone, if you are still affected by this after completing the workaround guide for corrupted profiles, you may have software running on your computer that is interfering with the games controls.

If you have any games or conflicting software running in the background on this list, can you please disable through Task Manager - https://support.ubisoft.com/en-GB/Article/000063761

Another thing you can check is if you have any old drivers installed for USB peripheral devices, that may be interfering with the games controls as well.

You can check this through the device management screen in Windows, under the category HID, please try updating all HID drivers in use and uninstalling any that you no longer use that may have belonged to older USB devices.

In order to reinstall a peripheral device you have uninstalled by accident, simply plug the device back into your computer and wait for WIndows to reinstall its driver.

I am still having this problem. I cannot complete the step "complete a situation" because I CANNOT MOVE OR INTERACT WITH THE IN GAME WORLD. That is the core problem. This does nothing to solve it. I can't even wait for the situation to time out and fail to complete it because it is set for infinite time.

Yes. Yes I did. Three times in fact. I can't complete them though since, once again, completing a situation requires you to be able to move. No controller connected either by the way. No clue what's going on. I've been trying to fix this since December of last year. I normally buy a season pass at the beginning of each year, and that fact that the new operator is someone I actually want to play is a little grating.

Are there any updates on this problem? I'm still having trouble, and I really want to play. Why is there not an option to turn off controller support in the menu? Is this difficult to program?

We do apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this.

The team are actively working to try and resolve this issue as soon as possible, I'm not able to provide an ETA for when it might be fixed at this time I'm afraid but please keep an eye on the forums for updates.
