Unable to play with VPN

Before I get started, please don't tell me that a VPN won't get me better ping. I know that. I understand a VPN conceptually and realize it can never get me lower ping than a "raw" connection. I'm also not trying to ping abuse, in fact I want to BYPASS my VPN for gaming.

I'm going to be in a situation for work where I have to be on work WIFI (monitored) for months. I figured I'd install NordVPN for privacy, and use spit tunneling (Bypasses the VPN) for gaming. Works fine with any game I've tested so far besides Rainbow Six.

I've tried:
1: Validating game files and reinstalling.
2: Turning off antivirus.
3: Turning off firewall.
4: Running everything as administrator.
5: Split tunneling RB6, BattleEye, and all associated processes. This means I had my VPN on for all other apps, but tried to tunnel through the VPN with RB6.
6: Changing my VPN to allow all apps through the VPN, with the exception of a few apps I specifically forced through VPN (only Firefox and Discord).

The problem is I get a connection error no matter what I do. Step 6 really confuses me, because theoretically there's no way the VPN should be touching RB6 at all. Can someone please help me?

Thanks for reaching out.

I'm afraid that we don't advise using a VPN with Ubisoft Connect or Rainbow Six: Siege as this will cause connection issues.

Restarting the Ubisoft Connect client via Task Manager can help in occasion, but the game isn't designated to be compatible with VPNs, so we cannot ensure there will be no connection issues while one is in use.

I've had the same issue and have tried all of this(been using VPN due to dorm wifi for months now), devs told me the same thing.

If anything, the situation is worse; it seems like Steam isn't letting me connect at all through Nord VPN anymore. Been this way for weeks. I haven't violated the TOS by buying things at lower prices in different regions or anything like that.

It's great that Steam is making me choose between privacy and the ability to play with my friends! :)

that is outrages, i don't understand why VPN is so poorly supported on platforms for gaming. It protects people from DDOS and more.
