It's just that you can't change them anymore, if you've already set up a custom one back in the day.
The only possible changes do seem to be to remove your custom avatar to the default one or to replace it with some other one from the prelisted games.
Maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all players in our ecosystem is a core principle for Ubisoft. Starting June 6, as we continue to innovate and improve our services, we will perform necessary updates on our avatar upload and reporting system.
During this rework, new custom avatar uploads will be disabled for all new & existing accounts. Players will still be able to select an avatar from the Ubisoft gallery, proposing a large variety of avatars from our brands. More information can be found on our dedicated support article here:
