I would highly recommend looking through Microsoft's own support guide, this guide covers the most common causes and of audio issues on PC and will help to rule out a few things that could be causing this with your headphones >

If you'd like to create a support case and give us your dxdiag and msinfo files, you can do so here > https://www.ubisoft.com/help/contact
What I would advise you to try in addition to the Microsoft guide would be the following >>
1. If using any other sound-controlling software such as Discord or any other VoIP programs, please disable this through Task Manager and relaunch the game, to check if these programs were causing any interference with your audio.
2. Test the game in borderless window mode, windows mode, and full screen to see if all display options have no sound. Sometimes running a game in borderless window mode specifically, will fix this issue.
3. Next, check your Advanced Windows Sound Options for the game, in case an update has changed some of the settings you were using >
-Right-click on the Volume/Sound speaker icon in your Taskbar and select Open Sound Settings.
-Scroll down until you see the Advanced Sound Options and select App Volume Device Preferences.
-You will see an 'Output and Input' option, make sure you have your game open, and it should appear in the list of applications here.
-From here you can assign which device the listed applications/game will output their audio to. Under the dropdown column for the game, select which Audio Device you'd like to output the game's audio to whether that be a headset or a speaker
4. In case these audio issues are caused by a corrupted game file in your games installation, please verify your game files in the game launcher as verifying may fix these files > https://www.ubisoft.com/help?article=000060529

These steps seem basic and not related to R6, however the issue applies only to this specific game.
Are DEV's going to look into this or is it one of those issues no one cares about?
Hey,
Thanks for letting us know you are also having the issue. I'll create a report for it but as it's not something we are seeing mass-reported and there is a clear workaround of just restarting the game (or selecting your audio output before launching) it wouldn't be a high priority issue, so it depends on how easy of a fix it is for them.

This has been going on for almost a year now and this is the only game that has this issue. Restarting the game just to change the output is a hassle.
Hey there,
R6S will always default to your default output at the time of launch.
If you switch output in-game, you may lose audio. Which restarting the game, should resolve the issue.

Hello Topaz,
Thank you for the update.
Can you please confirm if you're still experiencing this after restarting your game, by any chance?
Many thanks and if you have any additional questions, please let us know.
- Ubisoft Support
Hey there,
Can you provide more information, regarding when the issue first occurred for you?
Could you also provide more information, on when the last time, you were able to switch the default sound output whilst in-game so we can pass the information on for you?
