I am getting stuttering when using my 1080p TV as a monitor for my MSI gaming laptop
So for my 18th birthday my brother gave me his old MSI gaming Laptop and it hasn’t been used in 2 years but after I did some cleaning on it and factory resetting windows it works good. The specs are a Nividia 1050 ti Graphics card, Intel I7 processor (dont know which one specifically but I think it has a max speed of 3.2 GHz) and a 450gb SSD. So On to the actual problem I am having, so I like using a monitor or tv in this case because I don’t have a gaming monitor or the money at this time to get one because I am saving to get my car insured and Inspected right now but when I use my specific TV it’s 1920 x 1080p with 60GHz it will stutter especially with siege. Some people hearing this might think it sounds weird that I want to do this but I just like how my actual mechanical keyboard feels and I like the bigger screen. Can anyone help me out I kinda just want to you this display for my laptop without having this inconvenience until I can get the money to eventually get an actual gaming monitor that is meant for computers. Any help is appreciated. Also it is worth mentioning that I am using the HDMI port on my laptop. Thank you

Since the tv is big you might want to upscale your resolution but i doubt that since you have a 1050ti. I would suggest lookimg at the cable you use for your hdmi port and look around at your TV as well.

Yea, I'd expect some stutter because the 1050 Ti can't quite run Siege at 60 000 000 000 fps so you could get a smooth V-sync.

This post has the bare minimum of information required to even attempt trouble shooting it.

0. Are you using V-sync? It introduces input latency, but on a TV it may be the culprit.

1. Is the laptops screen closed, or are you just cloning it to the TV?

2. I guess you're not experiencing this if you play on the laptop alone. Is this so?

3. What settings are you using?

4. Can you track the stutters as a clear event in something like, GPUZ-graphs?

5. Have you tried asking your brother to fix it?

Yes if I just use the laptop its fine, but when you brought up question 1. I tried cutting off the display to the laptop and just let my TV be the display and that helped a lot.

Yes when I use the HDMI port it says that the port is utilizing my Intel integrated graphics, but I'm assuming you cant just make that port utilize the 1050 instead unless I'm wrong

Hey there Remyforrest,

Just checking in on how you're getting on with this?

As you're using a laptop, could you please also try following this guide[nvidia.custhelp.com] to disable your integrated graphics?

If your laptop is attempting to output via integrated graphics over your 1050Ti, it may explain the performance drops.

Please let us know if you need any more assistance!

Hey Remyforrest,

Have you made sure that the latest drivers adapted to your laptop have been installed ?
Sometimes, that means that these are distributed directly by MSI. Have you checked there ?
