Is Ubisoft restricting access to players with custom avatars?

I've had a custom avatar since 2 years ago and I couldn't connect to the server today. I could get on just fine about 12 hours ago. There wasn't much report of outages from many other people, the only thing I've found is a Ubisoft tweet removing custom avatars to be more "safe and inclusive" from 15 hours ago.

To say nothing of how contradictory that is, I feel like many players could play cause most players on Uplay doesn't have custom avatars thus could be a an unintentional or intentional screw up from Ubisoft.

And christ guys, if you're getting ratio'd so bad that you have to disable comments, maybe consider that it wasn't a good decision at all.

Just seems kinda dumb, if you look at literally any other game company hosting platform other then maybe Consoles, custom avatars are a stable of the community for self expression. the fact you had it originally then removed it makes little sense, even if you're not at the liberty to share the details as to why. Unless something major happened that caused such an event there's no way you can justify the action rationally.

Hey Tristan,

I'm afraid so - or there are some pre-selected options available.

But once you pick one of these, you can't go back to your previous custom one.

I haven't touched the game since I'm no longer able to use my own avatar, and I will NOT touch this game again until I can. How hard is it to just allow our steam avatars??

(I've played on PS4 for years and I also quit there too, mostly because I switched to PC. I played the free weekend just to see how the servers were before I bought it and that's when I realized I had to choose between some lame/boring avatars with no personality. And that there @devs and @Ubisoft, is why you lost out on someone purchasing the game.)
