game ban on steam for rb6 siege??

a "game ban" just showed up on my steam profile and i have gotten a message saying You've been permanently banned in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege by BattlEye on behalf of the game developer.

I don't care because I'm not actually banned in siege, i opened the game up and i'm fine still but, since when was this a feature? Last time i checked there was no affiliation between steam bans and siege bans?

not that i care if anyone believes me or not but for the record i didn't actually cheat.

Thanks for the response, I've actually now figured out that it's because someone who I gifted the game to on steam got banned themselves. Since the purchase came through my account, the ban has showed up on my steam account. It's very weird but it doesn't negatively affect me in any way so it shouldn't be a problem.
