I had the same problem but it suddenly started closing properly... no idea what I did. It was really annoying I had to restart my pc every time

This is still a problem for a lot of folks, ubi doing ubi things, I'm sure they don't mind the extra playtime statistics, to show how much people 'really' love the game.

take off the game task in the task manager

Open the task manager and search for Rainbow Six, then close it.

it's more a problem with steam I think. the game closed normally but steam still said it was running in the library, so if I closed r6 I couldn't launch it back up again since it was "already running" and i had to restart my pc

not sure if it's the same problem op is having but i didnt see it in the task manager bc the game wasnt actually running

Then close "Ubisoft Connect" instead of/with "Rainbow Six"

just use task manager

Use task manager, poor indie studio can't fix this bug.

Task Manager does not work. It doesn't even show the game running but steam does.

okay? Task Manager shows 2 apps running. Steam & Discord. This is congruent with the apps i have running. great! I let me launch rainbow six. Error occured while updating, (app running). I open steam, Rainbowsix is running, the STOP button does not work. I look at task manager, 2 apps are running, Steam & Discord. Why does steam think rainbow six is running. My discord shows me playing rainbow six for the last 20+ hours when its not even open.
