Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Siege won't start once moved to new ssd
Bought a new SSD (Kingston A2000 M.2 250GB) moved the install folder via steam from my old SATA SSD to the new one. At first it worked fine. Starting yesterday the game won't launch. Does not start Uplay, nothing appears in task manager and after a while the "play" button on steam turns green again.

I validated the files, repaired visual c++ runtime library, etc. Still nothing. When I move the game back to my old SATA SSD it works fine. But if I move it again to the new one, the same thing happens
What gives?

Hey there.

Can I ask you to double check the following please if you're still having issues?

If you had previously installed the games to an alternate location outside of your main Steam folder please try the following:

Launch Steam and go to Steam > Settings > Downloads and click the Steam Library Folders button. This will open a window with all your current Steam Library folders.
Click the "Add Library Folder" button and select the folder with your installed games.
Once you have added the new Library folder your installed games should appear in your Steam Library.

Hey,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Both the old and new locations are listed in the Steam Library Folders. The library folder on the new drive is set as the "Default" location.

No worries.

It does seem as though something has gone wrong with Steam when the folders were initially moved. Have you been able to test this with other games?

Have you tried deleting the game and reinstalling from scratch to the drive you're currently using?

You also mentioned that it doesn't start Uplay, do you have the Uplay application open logged in and running in the background? If not can you try doing that first before launching the game?

Other games work fine from the new Library Folder.

I have tried reinstalling from scratch to the new location. What's interesting is that it still won't work from there, but if I move the same install to the old location it works.

I have tried having Uplay open and running.

I've also reinstalled Uplay.
Have not reinstalled Steam yet, but I did opt out of the Beta to see if that would solve the issue. It didn't.

Reinstalled Steam, added the Library Folders again and it works now.
Maybe would have been enough to remove the Steam Library Folder the game was in and add it again. Who knows.

Anyway, thanks for your help, Orion. You guys at Ubi-support are great. Keep up the good work!
