0. Vertical audio is broken on all maps. There were problems on some maps near stairs but now it got much worse. Most of the time I can hear all sounds (both footsteps and gunfire sounds) upstairs, even if the source is like 2 meters away from me on the same floor. Also sometimes I can hear every sound like it's directly above me (upstairs) even if the source is on the opposite side of the map and I'm not supposed to hear it at all. Like all sounds on the map are rendered directly above me. I don't know how to reproduce this.
Now to the famous inverted sound bug. I firmly believe it doesn't exist. In attempts to fix a nonexistent bug you break sound and achieve nothing. It's time to stop. Sound channels can't just swap. Maybe the engine glitches and calculates sounds at different position or uses different player orientation, but there is no way sound channels are getting inverted. But that's, like, my opinion.
Now to the actual sound glitch. There is a new glitch that appeared this season.
1. The sound doesn't disappear instantly, it degrades over time.
2. You can play full 2 rounds until sound completely disappears. The only sound that doesn't disappear is the sound made by your drone when you're manning it.
3. When it starts, you can immediately notice the sounds are muffled, but the orientation is correct and you can play normally for a while, until it degrades into complete silence.
4. For me it started when I've seen end of round replay. There is a bug (also exclusive to this season). When someone dies and you can see the replay (either in the end of round or on deathcam), if the victim was shooting at the time of death, you can hear the gunfire spray going on infinitely. Usually when the replay ends, it disappears. But if it doesn't and the bug continues (you still hear infinite gunfire burst of a dead player), it goes on for multiple rounds. That's when the audio glitch comes in. The audio degrades until it completely disappears. Also note that even when your audio goes silent, when you die you immediately start hearing that very same infinite burst that started it all. I'm pretty sure if you fix the issue with glitched gunfire sounds during deathcam and end of round replays, the audio glitch will also go away.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread about the Inverted Audio, Missing/Muffled Audio when Droning and Missing Gun Audio in Terrorist Hunt / Training Grounds
After our investigations into this, with your continued support and help, we were able to fix two of these issues and have not had any further reports about them from players after the patch.
The Missing/Muffled Audio when Droning was confirmed fixed with patch Y5S3.1
The Inverted Audio bug was confirmed fixed with patch Y5S3.1
As for the Missing Gun Audio in Terrorist Hunt / Training Grounds we have a planned fix for this in the near future.
If you would like to report on a new audio bug or returning audio bug, please answer in bullet points in this format, to help with our reports -
- Please describe the audio issue you are having?
- What platform are you playing on?
- Does it happen on specific maps? What maps have you noticed these audio issues on?
- Do you use WiFi or a LAN connection?
- Did you notice the issue only on the replay cam playback? Live in game? Or both?
- What happened prior to the audio issue occurring?
(Did you equip a certain weapon? Did you visit a particular location?)
- Can you describe your audio set-up?
(Headphones plugged in the monitor, plugged in a the controller, plugged directly into computer, using a home cinema system, using speakers, etc)
-Do you have any video clips you can record of this happening for us to watch back?
Hey! Thank you for making us aware of this.
I have checked and this is also a known issue, it has only recently made an appearance. We were able to reproduce it very quickly and our dev team is looking into it.
You could try verifying your game files, perhaps that will help. Here you go: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
All the best!

I got the same problem is there a fix meanwhile?
Hey there,
Can you please provide some further details into what you're encountering?
Such as;
- Exact sounds missing
- Are they always missing or do they fail mid match / play session?
- If it's the latter, do you notice any other in-game issues such as freezing?
- Have you attempted any troubleshooting or different audio devices and if so, what?
Thank you!
