Rainbow Brightness Issue
So my monitor gets really bright so I tend to keep the brightness at about 15. Reinstalled Rainbow today after resetting PC, now every time I open it, it sets monitor brightness to 100. I tried calibration in game, not enough. Why does Rainbow do this and how can I fix?

Hey,

Have you checked out the Gamesettings.ini file and made a manual change there if one is available? This may help to force the change back to where you want it.

No, I’m talking about monitor brightness, like monitor not game. I keep monitor at 15 and game at 55, and what gets changed is monitor brightness to 100. Game stays at 55. Unless there is something I missed in the file, I’m not sure this is it

Hey Concube,

Are you able to change the monitor settings when the game has launched and it's put the settings back to 100? If so does it then stay at 15 or does it go back up once you exit the game and relaunch?

On your monitor settings do you have a game mode, cinema mode or eco-mode activated? If so this could be what is causing the issue if you have Eco-Mode set to 15 but then when you're launching the game it's changing to game mode or cinema mode this could be why it's going back up to 100.

Hope this helps!

When I alt-tab or close the game it goes back to 15, if I go back into game it goes to 100.

I have no idea about these modes, my monitor is of the Surface Studio so not sure. How do I check these modes?

Can you make a copy of your Gamesettings.ini and place it in a separate folder, then delete the original and verify your game files so another is created by default and let us know if this continues.

It sounds like it is something to do with your R6S settings if it only happens in-game

Removed current game settings.ini file from folder, restarted game. My settings were reset but issue is still present.

Hey Concube!

Thanks for clarifying your type of system. It sounds like there is some sort of "Adaptive Brightness" setting active on your OS that may be causing this issue.

If removing the game settings file has not resolved this, then it's a setting somewhere on the OS you may need to change. To that end, you might need to contact Microsoft Support regarding this.

I have checked my Adaptive Brightness settings, it is off. Rainbow is the only game for which I have this issue, other games are fine.

Thanks for updating us on that.

Can you try running with a clean boot to see if the issue occurs after this too: {LINK REMOVED}

If it still happens, I would make a support ticket via {LINK REMOVED} and attach your system files {LINK REMOVED} so we can take a look at this in more detail
