All progress is tied to your Uplay account, not your Steam account. Buying the game again on Uplay would not reset your progress due to this. If you unlink Steam from your current Uplay account and make a new one, then link Steam to this. You should then be able to start with new progress if you launch it through Steam.
Remember to note down the info of which account is which so you don't get confused in the future.

You should've been more specific, I just bought the starter edition from another Uplay account and can't even play it until i reinstall the game, because My main has all the season pass, thats why it won't confirm the ownership of the game.
I don't quite understand the issue. So you bought the starter edition on another Uplay account, why do you need to reinstall it? Steam and Uplay versions of R6S are different download files. It doesn't sound like what I said was really relevant to your situation.

You can only have your Steam linked to one Uplay account at a time which causes authentication issues. To play with two different accounts on the same Steam profile you'd need to unlink it from your main Uplay and then link Steam to your new secondary Uplay account each time you wanted to swap between them.

I unlinked steam from my main account and created a new uplay account. then i started up r6 trough steam. it asked me : the following items will bind to your uplay account: rainbow 6 starter edition, Year 4 season pass. bacause i have the season pass it said that it cant confirm the ownership ow the game. is there a way around this or compelely not pls help. i logged in back on my main account right now and i can play perfectly on my game but it sais my steam isnt linked anymore. pls help with this as well
If you wanted to start over or have a second account, then you would need to purchase a new version of the game.

Hello. I would like to link my Ubisoft version of Rainbow Six Siege to Steam. However, I am getting the message, "There was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product. Please contact customer support if you need help in solving this problem." I have a Steam version of Rainbow Six Siege, but I unlinked it from my first Ubisoft account. The account that was connected to Steam had Y4 pass, whereas my second account (Uplay) didn't have Y4 purchased. Would I need to purchase Y4 pass on my second account, in order to successfully link it? I have already unlinked my Steam from the Steam account, yet I am not able to link my second account (Uplay version) to my Steam. Any suggestions?
You have a copy of R6:S on the same Uplay account that you linked a Steam version of the game to?
If you are trying to link a Uplay version of the game to Steam, then this is not possible as the ownership is on Uplay.

I am also having issues with a second ubisoft account...
I purchased Siege via Steam and, as I later found out, was required to create a ubisoft account.
Since I know Siege is a ubi game and I recently had the desire to create a second account, I created a new ubi account and bought Siege through that.
I must have read something in a forum that was incorrect. I searched for anything that would benefit or hinder me in creating a second account, and saw a reply post that stated that as long as I purchase Siege again for the newly created account, running the game through Steam would result in no issues.
I am receiving the authentication error also. My main account has everything; season pass, operators, etc., which I don't care about. I expected that I wouldn't have access to anything but the base game for the new account. But, it doesn't even load up. And, yes, I unlinked my main ubisoft account and linked my new one to Steam, following the information I had previously found.
Nothing. I haven't found a way to run the game without a requirement to download it again. And it's upsetting me greatly. With all of the patches, new maps, operators, etc., the download is apparently 111.9Gb. It's taking such a long time that when I have the time to download it, it's during the time that I usually have for actually playing the damn thing.
I expected ubi to be smarter about this. My main account has everything for the game. Which means that there shouldn't be any issues with running the game through my Steam downloaded version, since my new ubi account would only have access to the base game. It makes sense to me that my new account would simply be limited. However, ubi doesn't like that.
