Please could you try the troubleshooting found {LINK REMOVED}here.
If you still have the issue after that, try these steps:
Go to C:\Users\CurrentUser\Documents\My Games\Rainbow Six - Siege\UplayID
Go to GameSettings.ini
Go to Audio
Change "VoiceChatCaptureMode=" to a 1 on the variable.
Could you let us know what your sound setup is like and if you are able to test with other headphones, do they work instead?

Im sorry for my late response
Changing VoiceChatCaptureMode= to 2 was the first step i tried after doing the basic restart troubleshooting. It still doesnt allow me to chat or hear.
Sound setup is a Logi G430 plugged directly into the 3.5mm back IO. Im sure, due to the fact that other games and discord works fine, that this a problem with the game for some reason not connecting to VOIP
EDIT: it took 2 PC restarts over 24 hours but i can finally chat. I'm still pretty sure this is a problem with the game that needs investigation but at least i can give callouts

Its back now
It works for the first boot of the day but even after restarting my game and PC its back.
One of the ports that were listed in the ubi article was fowarded to another machine. When that was fixed i was able to connect VOIP. Thanks Jared L for helping me out

Hey there,
This is a very old thread and a lot of the steps regarding port forwarding are no longer relevant, of the steps above the only one that is still relevant is the first step by Froggard regarding voice capture mode in your settings file.
If you're having an issue with VOIP please create a new thread and describe exactly what's happening in your case, can you hear other players and they can't hear you? Is your mic being displayed as active on the scoreboard but nobody can hear you or is your mic not being detected whatsoever? We'll be locking this thread as it is has been inactive since 2019. Thanks.
