Casual/Competitive Red/Yellow plug icon flashing in-game

Over the past few months (started in or around September) I've been having problems playing Rainbow Six Siege properly.

Currently, there is a red plug at the top right of the screen that flickers yellow rapidly most of the time, and when it goes away (if it ever does) the lag stops for a few seconds,

Teammates teleport when moving around, the end of round killcams also look janky and robotic. The enemies seem to not have the same teleporting problem, unsure if they do or not. The worst thing I've probably gotten was being kicked from a game for having a bad connection, but it's not like this in other games.

I'm using a 5GHz connection, tried 2.4GHz and still the same issue. Tried reinstalling but didn't work. Is there anything I could do to fix this or should I just buy an ethernet cable?
