Did you make any changes to your system before this occurred? Additionally, do you have more than one sound device plugged into your system? For instance Speakers and headphones
Something you could try is power cycling your router. You can do this by turning it off, unplugging it, waiting a minute, plugging it back in and turning it on again.
Also it may be worth getting the game settings file from My Documents and moving it to the desktop. This will default the game settings and it's worth trying it, to see if this will allow it to correctly use your headset.

Thanks, but I found the problem. I updated to windows 10 and it turned off some settings for no apparant reason.
For anyone having this problem, go to the windows search and search "microphone privacy settings" then make sure the "allow apps to use your microphone" is turned on. For some reason when thats off you can't even hear other people talking.
