Just to confirm, you cannot change the Uplay account that is used with the game. You will need to continue using the same Uplay account.
In terms of the game, you cannot get Uplay to detect a Steam version of the game.

You would most likely need to reinstall the game from Uplay.

I bring another way to localte the game...
1 - Make a backup file in a folder named Tom Clanzy Rainbow Six Siege,
2- Put this file in the folder "ubisoft game launcher"
3 - You will try to locate the game, if the uplay client show a error message, pass to step 4
4 - Close the Uplay client
5 - let the backup folder inside the directory 'ubisoft game launcher'
6- then you will click in Download again, the client should recognize the files.
7- Wait the sincronism with the cloud.
8- Play the Game. IT WORKS FINE FOR ME . Hope this helps :)
Reason = Key Authentication + Steam Version has a File Authetication to allow use of Steam Wallet through Steam Overlay
I can't vouch for this working all the time, but hopefully this can be helpful to others.
