Uplay download dropping to 0kb/s constantly
Title. I ended up being able to download R6 by restarting the Uplay launcher about a dozen time, but it's doing the same thing with all other games I try to download on the damn Ubisoft launcher.

Essentially, the download goes normally until at some point, for strictly no reason, the download drops gradually over 5-6 seconds to 0kb/s, and stays there until I restart the launcher or mess with the resume/pause download button for a while. My connection isn't great, so the download takes time, but it's very stable and I haven't had any problem with any other download on either Steam, Epic launcher, Origin or Blizzard launcher. It's exclusively Uplay, and I can feel trying to reinstall For Honor like that is gonna be *HELL*.

If anyone knows what's going on, or think they can help in some way, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hey, Weaver!

Sorry to hear that your game is not downloading. Please try the steps below:

1. Reach the point in installation when it gets stuck
2. Press the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys at the same time and select Start Task Manager
3. Find InsHelper.exe and end this process

The installation should now continue without issue. However, if it does not please clear your temporary files:

1. Go to the Start menu on your desktop (or, if using Windows Vista/Windows 7 press the Windows key and the letter R at the same time)
2. Type in %TEMP% and press enter.
3. Go to Edit and Select All.
4. Go to File and Delete.

If it is still not downloading the game, please complete the steps from our connectivity guide here:

Thank you.

Might be a dead thread but everyone still needs to know this since it wasn't resolved

Go to your uplay settings->downloads

find the "game installer cache" section and click on the "delete all game installers" button and restart uplay

then it should be fixed, it was happening to my download for r6 and doing that managed to fix it

The way I managed to fix this problem was by uninstalling Uplay and all the games from it entirely and re installing Uplay and the installer to my D drive which had heaps more space than my C drive, this has seemed to work so far. Hope this helps :)

EDIT:
This did not work, it stopped when the download reached 2GB, Hey UBISOFT! I just want to play the game that i bought with my own money! why don't you fix your client or start handing out refunds to all the people affected!

Does this issue persist after clearing the cache in Uplay?
- Close the application Uplay
- Locate the Ubisoft Game Launcher/Uplay folder by right- clicking on the Uplay icon on your Desktop and choosing Open file location

The default location is: C:/Program Files(x86)/Ubisoft/Ubisoft Game Launcher

- Rename the cache folder to something else e.g cachebackup
- Relaunch Uplay application and check if the issue still occurs

I've had the same issue trying to install The Division 2. I started before going to bed and got up this morning to find the D/L had not progressed beyond 2.77GB. I tried all the "fixes" listed above, all failed with the exception of installing the VPN suggested by @liamcharsley (Cheers M8).

It has a 7 day free trial.

Given that I don't foresee purchasing another game in the next 7 days, I won't be purchasing another game through Uplay. Also given that my US friends were able to purchase the game for $3USD (95% off), my EU friends were able to purchase it for 3Euro and I had to pay $14.99AU (80 something % off), I'm currently compiling a list of sharp objects for the person/s who made that decision to insert into themselves.

the only method that worked for me was using a vpn. the one i used was protonVPN and it is very fast and works like there is not a diference

I had the same issue this weekend with The Division 2. The download would start, move to 11MB/s, then drop down to 0MB/s and stay there for good. I could cancel it, restart it (it'd kick off where it left off), and it would download a couple of hundred MB then die again. Tried the following:

- Ended the InsHelper.exe process, no change
- Ran as Administrator, no change
- Closed uPlay numerous times, no change
- Reinstalled uPlay, no change
- Went into Settings > Downloads and hit "Delete all game installers", no change
- Closed uPlay, renamed cache folder, opened uPlay, no change

In the end I used my VPN, went to Melbourne, Australia and it's sitting at a steady 10.8MB/s.

Fix your ♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft :)

I have the same issue with Division 2 recent big patch. How is this so hard to fix Ubisoft???

This is happening to me right now with the new patch today.

I bought crew 2 on the epic store thinking I could avoid this issue but no, I still can't download or update the game without using a vpn service (Epic downloads the game, then uplay makes you redownload it). I went through all this with assassins creed odyssey and vowed not to buy from Uplay again. It's such a hassle to use a vpn if all you need it for is to download and update one game. Uplay customer service told me they "strongly urged against the use of vpn to access their servers" and that I needed to "fix my local internet settings" by "forwarding ports" ....which is hilarious they think I have a degree in computer hacking. People say using different launchers is just like shopping at different stores but that's just not true. Uplay store-"you can either sprint backwards or pay for one of these vpn scooters" You-"why cant I just walk like other places?" Uplay store-"sorry our store isn't designed for that......but we have stuff you can ONLY get here!" You-*sighs and grabs vpn scooter*

I confirm this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bug still exists in 2023. I am trying to download Xdefiant and its goes to zero after hitting full speed. Ubisoft is worse than Activision.

I had the same issue but limited my download speed to 4MBs instead of letting it go at the max and it's been stable the past 15ish mins.
