VOICE CHAT NOT WORKING can't hear or talk in game
I haven't played R6 in a month, I came back home found 300mb update and updated it started the game and I couldn't talk I thought it was a bug so I resarted still the same, the voice chat worked fine before, any solutions please I can't play without communiaction

In case anyone is still trying to find the fix, I just found where was my problem. I have a new laptop from Asus and I had the same problem that I couldn't hear anybody in any game, not only in Rainbow Six. There was preinstalled software called Asus Sonic Studio 3. After I uninstalled it, everything works how it should be. So if you have some audio software preinstalled try to uninstall it.

Bumping because this problem still isn't fixed. This thread seems to have a lot of "duds" where people simply had their computer set up in one way or another that blocked their microphone at all times, or didn't have the Voice Chat Record Threshold set low enough.

The issue this forum has been trying to tackle for years is still present at random for random players. Rainbow Six's in-game voice chat function will spontaneously stop working.

You cannot speak over voice chat, nor does your mic-and-name icon appear to the right of the screen indicating that you're holding your push-to-talk button. You cannot hear any players on the server using voice chat, nor can you see their mic-and-name icon at the right of the screen.

This is not an external problem. This is the in-game voice chat feature randomly failing to function.

I keep my computer consistently updated.

I just recently started to have the same problem and it's still happening to some players. I can't talk or hear people and the sound in-game and steam overlay are all muffled. In other games I can perfectly hear others and talk but in Siege I can't do anything about it. I tried to use some methods on google but so far none have worked. I even reinstalled but still no effect. Is there even a fix for this problem?

No fix yet, other than restarting the game. Usually.

Had the same problem on my ASUS laptop. Updated Windows and unistalled Sonic Studio and voice chat is back on!
