Why Were Situations Removed?
Ubisoft removed Situations around the time they revamped the new player experience in 2022–2023. Here’s why:
1. Outdated Content
Situations were created at launch (2015) and hadn't been meaningfully updated to reflect the massive changes in gameplay, operators, and map reworks over the years.
They featured legacy maps, removed or heavily reworked layouts (like old House), and lacked any of the newer operator abilities, gadgets, or tactics.
2. Poor AI and Unrealistic Training
The AI was simplistic and exploitable — it didn’t behave like real players at all.
Ubisoft wanted players to learn Siege in a way that resembled actual PvP gameplay more closely, which Situations didn’t offer.
3. Focus Shift to Other Modes
Ubisoft has been pushing newer training tools like:
Training Grounds (formerly Terrorist Hunt)
Shooting Range
Operator Guide system
Team Deathmatch
These are intended to be more open-ended, modular, and updated for the current state of the game.
4. Simplification of the UI and Game Modes
Removing outdated and underused modes has helped streamline the user experience and free up resources for current content.
What to Use Now for Practice:
Training Grounds (T-Hunt) – For PvE shooting and map familiarity.
Shooting Range – Great for weapon recoil practice.
Newcomer Quick Play / Standard – To ease into PvP at a slower pace.
Learning Area / Tutorials – Often updated with tips and interactive guides.
Custom Games – Create your own T-Hunt-style training on any map with any setup.
You’re definitely not wrong in seeing Situations as a helpful tool — many players miss them for nostalgic and practical reasons. But Ubisoft opted to replace them with more flexible and updated systems.
Also the CEO said SIMILAR about the ai, etc. for terrorist hunt...and also that it was about finances/workload. Pure stupidity...they coded and placed OODLES of game modes (mini pvp temporaries) that cost LOADS to code and then just threw all that away...so we are to believe them it cost too much to maintain an already programmed PvE? They are just SUPER out of touch with most of their playerbase for whatever reasons, guess a few of them should read these forums to find out what they are missing. However YOU seem to be just as remiss by copy pasting essentially ultra necroed information, such as terrorist hunt still being in the game, etc.
The gamemodes such as situations, and terrorist hunt were taken OUT OF THE GAME because Uplay/ubisoft has ZERO IDEA how to curate their games properly being as most of them probably don't even play games, and have zero idea what makes A GOOD DECISION for most of their gamer customers. They also fail to be able to read ANY of their real customers OPINIONS for whatever reasons currently, making them STUCK in their absolutely stupid decisions going forwards. IF YOU ARE READING ANY OF THESE ANY OF YOU THAT WORK THERE< time to make some changes before ALL your investors leave!
Oh I see the error now, they actually called training grounds TERRORIST HUNT at one point in their diatribe...so that is pure wrong, THEY ARE SUPER DIFFERENT...one was programmed by STUPID HEADS< and the other was programmed BY EXPERTS< and stupid heads took it out of the game!
Yes, neat how they put all this in such a user friendly type of copy post yet forget that what they are doing is taking OUT things in the game which SHOULD stay, and putting garbage into the game to replace it with. Would be NICE if in addition to having all the cool sounding words THEY COULD actually know what the frak they are talking about as well!
