Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Siege closes/crashes a random amount of time after the prep-phase. ends.
I would like to start of by stating that I've never encountered a problem quite like this in R6, I'm somebody who started playing in august of 2019 and I've always been able to run the game without issue, up until yesterday as of writing this (02/01/2025).

I'm not sure how to resolve this issue, when the game closes I do not receive a crash report from Ubisoft connect, despite my settings being set to send me crash logs, and when it does crash it is almost always after the prep-phase. During the action phase after a random amount of time, the game simply closes/crashes with no explanation making the cause of this issue incredibly difficult to narrow down.

I've tried many 'solutions', all of which have failed to stop the problem:

-verifying the integrity of the game cache.
-uninstalling and then reinstalling the game outright.
-restarting my computer.
-running Siege without unnecessary background processes or apps such as discord or google.
-I've tried launching the game in dx11 and dx12 mode.
-Disabled the steam, Ubisoft and Discord in-game overlays respectively.
-I've allowed Siege through my Windows Defender Firewall.
-Checked my antivirus inst inhibiting the game in any way.
-Lowered my graphics settings to the minimum
-Setting the performance priority to 'real time' in task manager
-unplugging unnecessary usb ports

If it helps then my system specs are:

-Nvidia Geforge GTX 1080 Ti Graphics card
-16GB RAM
-i5 Intel CPU
-3TB hard drive
-Windows 10 operating system
-I use ethernet Networking

I am writing this in 2025, So if you can offer any insight into what is causing this problem, I would appreciate it a lot, Thanks.

First thing to ask as the issue appeared recently is were there any recent updates (windows, graphic drivers) or maybe there are any updates available to make or have you installed or started to use any new apps recently? As there is no crash error, have you checked in event viewer for crash reasons? So your game crashes into desktop, right? Is your device overheating while in game? Do you experience similar crashes on other games?

My graphics drivers and Installation of Windows 10 are the latest (as of writing this). Admittedly I'm unfamiliar with whatever 'crash viewer' is. my PC doesn't overheat while in game and Rainbow Six Siege is the only game that crashes at all, unlike all the other games I own. There's also another weird thing, it only crashes when I try to enter a multiplayer game, but it never crashes when I play on the shooting range, tutorials or versus AI.

Many ppl reported the same issue on R6fix. While many ppl had no more crashes after turning discord overlay off, one person suggested to disable Temporal Anti-Aliasing (T-AA) so you could also try this.

I will definitely give those a go, thanks for the help so far
As you observed that the crashes happen only when in multiplayer mode, I wonder if there could be a link to some kind of connectivity issue to the common server or playing on cross-play platform. Unfortunately there is no option to turn crossplay off on PC to check if this fixes the issue. Have you tried to use VPN? I would also try to log out and in to ubisoft connect and if there is no improvement to reinstall ubisoft connect. In your first post you did not mention if you are running in admin modes, so if not set ubi, steam, game and battleye exe to run in administrator modes. I don`t think this is the issue here but you never know.

I'm not convinced my internet connection is the problem as its always been good, I'm also currently using wired Ethernet so there really should be no problem. My best guess in relation to connectivity issues would be that crossplay might be causing the problem, though its hard to say for sure. Since my last comment, I've reinstalled ubisoft connect, tried running the game with administrator mode for both the regular mode, steam, battle eye and dx11. I then tried Logging out of and into ubisoft connect. and using a vpn, all to no avail. The event viewer also hasn't detected any errors with R6 or its associated files. At this point I'm a little bit stuck on what to do as nothing has worked. What should I do?
Ok. In event viewer you are not going to see any errors with r6 what you should see is the reason of crash so look into windows logs system critical events/warnings.

Siege doesn't crash my pc, the game simply shuts down right when I try to play in a multiplayer match of any kind (casual, arcade, standard and ranked) at a random time during the action phase. sorry if that wasn't clear.

You could check what kind of errors you are getting in event viewer while in game as this *person who has the same gpu and had similar issue (game freezes and back to desktop without any error displayed):

For ex the error : nvlddmkm he had might indicate that smth is off with graphic card and it is advised to perform a clean graphic driver install with DDU. Btw to fix his issue he did clean inistall and kept GPU underclocked with a custom profil on Aorus Engine : GPU boost clock at 1583 MHz and memory clock at 11098 MHz.

Application Error with VCRUNTIME140.dll sugests that reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables is needed so he uninstalled and re-installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 (+ repair).

Kernelbase.dll errors indicate that system repair might be needed that`s why he run sfc /scannow.

I've tried loading into a match with the event viewer open in the applications section, but nothing is shown in regards to R6. I also tried the sfc /scannow command in my own command prompt. The result said some files were corrupted and successfully repaired but this did not fix the problem unfortunately. Something else weird I noticed with the crash, on the attacking side, the game always crashes immediately after the action phase begins. However on defense, its always random. I was able to get some kills and stay in a match for a few rounds before the game closed without warning. I also decided to look for any potential crash log files in the steam directory for R6, but to no avail. what else can I do.
Check if you find any recent errors/crash reports in ubisoft game launcher logs -> C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\logs and in r6 logs -> SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege\logs

Steam\steamapps\common\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege doesn't have a logs folder, is this normal? C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\Logs, has no crash logs.
In 'Ubisoft Game Launcher' theres another 'crashes' folder thats completely empty. I'm not sure what to do now, I've tried so many 'solutions' but nothing is working :(
There was a word missing in file directory to get to r6 logs (not Steam but SteamLibary) that I corrected in my previous post (basically it is where your game is installed). As for ubi launcher logs you should have the .txt files like : client_crash_helper.txt game_starter_log.txt launcher_log.txt network_info.txt overlay_log.txt service_log.txt Make a ticket to ubi, maybe they are going to look into for you.

Same problem!!!

The first time the game closed right during the match, and did not allow me to connect to the game and just gave me a few minutes ban from ranked games!
2 days later, the situation was the same during the preparation for the match, the game closed and I was banned for 1 hour again!

And just today the situation repeated itself again and I already have a 24 hour ban on ranked games!!!

What will happen after 24 hours, the game will block me for a month, and then forever!!! What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on?!!!
