Tbh thats siege most of the time, defenders have statistical advantage on win rate. It takes time but eventually youll find a method of approaching each map that works for you. Just dont play bee man, its asking to be bullied while your bullying yourself by playing him

Defenders nearly always have the advantage, except maps with poorly designed or cramped areas that you have to defend.

I usually can't wait till my side switches to defend as it just seems more fun.

The thing i noticed it players don't seem to defend much anymore, they treat it as death match. i.e. rather than stay close to the area you are supposed to be defending, they roam around the map picking off the attackers like they are playing death match.

nothing more annoying than starting as a attacker and dying seconds after spawning because someone is camping way away from their defend location.

players used to just defend from where they are supposed to. now you have to basically be super aware. sometimes i just let all my team mates die and then give up and not bother doing anything till the time runs out. not gonna let some camper pick me off. that ain't fun...

I think they should give maps a zone defenders should stick to as it's only when they go outside they get auto spotted which doesn't make sense anyway.

like stray to far from defender zone and get spotted. so it keeps everyone from straying.

also i wish they'd have barricades that touch the floor so drones can't go under. just have drone holes but no access through barricades.

Don't worry you'll get better with time

I was complete ♥♥♥♥ when I started, and now...

I'm still pretty much ♥♥♥♥ but at least I can get kills and use utility correctly

Were you peeking with your entire body or just your head and shoulders?

Siege has always been rough for new players. It's like learning Dota 2 or a fighting game, it's very knowledge dependent. The game is punishing. The community can be very punishing, although there are a lot of bad players still. The thing you'll need to deal with most of us veterans didn't have to deal with are smurfs. If I were to offer some advice:

1) Don't focus on winning or kills. Focus on learning. Every time you die, see what the other guy did. Make a note of what happened, do not repeat the same mistake. Do what the enemy did. Knowledge will help you know what to expect and how to deal with it.

2) Learn the maps. Go into Thunt daily and look at the names of the rooms on the compass. Go into Custom games and learn default cameras. Learn vertical destruction if you really want to up your game.

3) Use your drones. If you die with drones, that is typically your fault. Drones are the best gadget in the game and get you easy kills and prevent deaths. Intel simplifies the game immensely. Drone to get yourself into the building, that's one of the hardest things to do in this game.

4) Learn callouts, use your mic or chat. Siege is a game of variables, this is why the game seems so overwhelming. You need to narrow down variables. The more intel you have, the easier the game becomes. Randoms rarely give callouts these days, one of the reasons I got bored of the game. It just became TDM.

5) Don't overestimate your gunskill. People see youtube videos and think the game is about reflexes and flicks. Aim at headlevel. With experience you'll know where to aim because people tend to be in certain spots.

6) Learn how the sound works, sound is a great source for intel. Sound propagation is different from what you are familiar with and it doesn't always work properly. There are probably videos you can watch for that.

7) Watch twitch streamers, don't watch edited highlight clips on youtube. Watch guides on youtube. You learn a lot more from seeing the entire routine of players, see what works and doesn't work out. Do what they do.

8) Find people to play with. This game is terrible for solo queuers. Try to find people that are also learning or are already your friends, that way they're more likely to be patient with you.

9) Don't keep repeeking the same angle if the enemy knows you're there. The third time is not the charm. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Make good decisions and you'll win.

10) Stay calm, I think the biggest thing I used to struggle with is managing the stress/anxiety of the moment. I think really good players stay calm in those clutch moments and are able to perform normally. New players get so tight and screw themselves up. Don't get in your own head, if you screw up shake it off. It's just a game.

11) There is something called peeker's advantage in this game. It's kindof hard to explain, but to simplify, the game favors the aggressor when going around corners and doorways. So if you're just aiming down a hall, and a guy comes blazing around the corner. Likely the guy whipping around will win.
Siege is a very demanding game, steep learning curve and high maintainance. You have to play a long time to develop an edge (250-750 hrs tbh depending on how good you are at shooters to begin with) then play regulary to keep sharp (12 hrs a week I'd say), and if you're not sharp you'll get stomped on.

Do that and you can look forward to still getting stomped on, and also becoming aware of all the technical difficulties and beyond stupid gameplay decisions, so...

If you love the game, you'll learn to hate that love, but it'll still be worth it. If that's not something you can be bothered committing to, then don't bother this game is as far from casual-friendly as you get more or less.
not enough new player like you for a fair matching. You have to deal with it, don't try to be pro. Just play safe, cowardly if you want. Learn the map, do what people do.
by the way, the game is going downhill now and not as fun as it used to be. I feel sorry for the new players
