Rainbow Six Siege Code not working?

So I received an email from ubisoft with a code from rainbow six siege which looks like this
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. I tried entering this code into steam and didn't work, am I supposed to enter it somewhere else?

Same here. I followed the instructions from the email. It says the code is invalid.

Actually I was surprised to see an option to install via Steam but when it didn't work i just "figures"

Yep, enter it into the Uplay account under activate product and itll let you download and install it. Super fun game so far!

Same. Is it possible to install via steam or is uplay mandatory? I mean, I have an account but do I have to do it via uplay's launcher?

I don't know about separate key codes, but Steam preorders and beta gifts from Steam preorders both give access to the beta on Steam. Even if you have it on Steam though, the beta opens and runs through Uplay when you tell it to play.

I see, well thanks for the info- I'm fine with it running it through uplay, I just want to activate it on steam and on the website it said I could.

Seems so, I dled Uplay down and the code works there.

unless its valve that gave you the email, isnt it obvious that you have to activate it through uplay? especially since i guess you got the code through the waiting list

Yep, but clicking the "How to activate" button shows that it could be activated through steam also. Oh well, thanks for the help!

I've never actually used Uplay before so I didn't even know they had their own client thats why I assumed it was steam.

I bought mine from gamestop but it said enter key through steam but apparently only works on uplay just so everyone knows.
