Kapkan seems underpowered
I feel like Kapkan is almost useless as those trip mines 95% of the time will not kill anyone. It is extreamly easy to see the red light and the thing sticks out on both sides of the door/window.

Anyone else think this?

I fell for it once. You need to be creative and place it on an unexpected door.

Its often overlooked by the shield guys as they cant see that low with their shield up. Plase some wires outside of the door and when you hear em open fire. Shield should move 1st and .. you got a kill ;D unless they use comms and some1 spots for the shielder.. Also its good deterrent from droping straight through windows after breaching charge.
huh? l2place them and also that Modernized AKu is a monster

I thought so too until last night someone who was highely effective with him took out 4 people in our groups with one well placed tripwire right at the start of the match twice.

Pretty much he put it in the two main directions we were likely to come from to assault things. The idiots on my team ran right through it in a grouped single file line. Makes me want to give him another go, that guy was only in for one match and pretty much garunteed victory to his entire team. He got me on the last round with a ground floor door as well.

Was either incredible luck, or a lot of quick planning on preround setup. I personally think he planned it all out, I see pretty much everyone who uses him putting them in pretty stupid places most the time.

Use the Tripwire ability anywhere that isnt near the your location or the objective. And randomly place them along the routes of entry. When players are less cautious.

Trip wires are supposed to be like a surprized party. It aint a surprise if the guy knows about it.

Alright I'll give him another try today and see what I can do with the advice given here, thanks!

Any thoughts about smoke? he also seems pretty weak right now because you cant put all his gas out at once.

Nope!

Kapkan's my favorite Operator as Defender. This game is not about getting much kills in each round. The laser traps slows down the Enemy Team and they cant break trough walls or windows with a Slash for example.

Kapkan and Castle match perfect together from my opinion it is the best combination for each defender Team.

Kapkan door trap shound'nt have a spike on the other side of the door, it's to easy to destroy it. So yeah Kapkan is useless for now...

Trip mines are mainly usefull against shiel wearer breaching as they cant see them coz of the shield. Very usefull wouldnt change a thing about it

I think 95% of people use trip mines to block doors/windows leading from the direct outside to the inside which can work if done right. What I usually do is put trip mines on inner doors. Once the enemy gets inside and ♥♥♥♥ goes down they are going to be moving faster than they do on the outside. I liked to place a tripmine behind me, then push up a little, have the enemy come after me then I'd fall back behind my trip mine. It's also really nice if you put them on inner doors near the objective because then the enemy can't just walk around freely. They have to stop, look down, and by that time it's pz l8.

I played kapkan, nearly exclusively, in the Beta.

If you play it right you can just kill the enemy before they get inside anyways... just run outside and headshot them ;)
