GUIDE: How to fix stuttering and fps drops caused by DX12 (Operation Twin Shells)
Sadly Vulkan has been removed with the start of Operation Twin Shells because Ubisoft is moving on with their implementation of DX12 and they no longer want to support the game on two completely different graphical APIs.

Right now DX12 is the default option and it's causing terrible stuttering and also some fps drops.
Luckily you can at least still use DX11, which unfortunately somehow got worse after the patch as well and some people only get black screen after joining a game.
But unlike the DX12 it has a fix you can use if you are facing these issues under DX11.

What you want to do is:

Open "RainbowSix_DX11.exe" - Properties
You can find the "RainbowSix_DX11.exe" file in your games folder.
For me it's -> C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
Depends on where your game is installed if you have multiple drives and from which platform you bought it...
Right click the "RainbowSix_DX11.exe" and select "Properties" and then "Compatibility".
Now you want to check "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and "Run this program as an administrator".
Restart the game if you already had it running.

Using this I was able to get back to the same average fps without stuttering that I previously had under DX11.

If the issues persist then the shortcut you have on your desktop is probably set to launch the game with DX12 (as that is the default option right now) - hence the fix described above is not actually being applied.

What you want to do is launch the game using Steam / Ubisoft Connect. You can choose from 2 options there - one of them is DX11.

Alternatively you can just launch the game using the "RainbowSix_DX11.exe" file.
Feel free to create a new desktop shortcut of said file if you want to...

I hope this helps and have a great day! :)

Sorry to hear that.
So far this is the only workaround I know about. I will update if something else pops up.
Hopefully Ubisoft will just release a hot fix rather sooner than later...

Rip Vulkan used to get 600-700 fps and now 400 with constant stuttering on dx12

In fact it does and in fact it does help a ton of games my side...dont disable it if you play Fake Full Screen ahm (Border less) as now the game works in fake full screen even set to Dx11 unlike before it was forced to go exclusive full screen...well least my side

But nothing works as they ♥♥♥♥ up hard this time...
Dx11 is better than Dx12 but for me still even with 200+fps feels like i play with 30fps now....is just that choppy
Dx12 is just like vulkan kinda but lag each sec XD
I did see the Vulkan.exe still was in my files tho what is weird

UPDATE:

There is something weird going on with the game.
I was messing around with some settings trying to figure it out.
Not sure what exactly causes, but the reason my fix works for some people and does not for others probably has something to do with the Ultra HD Texture Pack "DLC".

I noticed that I was completely missing the Nvidia Reflex and DLSS settings a while ago (even before Operation Twin Shells), but the game ran just fine so I did not mind it that much.

Yesterday I tried reinstalling the game completely without downloading the texture pack and both Reflex and DLSS appeared in the settings, but my fix stopped working and the game was stuttering and losing frames even under DX11.
DX12 was even worse. DLSS helped a bit but overall it was a huge downgrade in performance.

So I tried uninstalling the game again and reinstalling together with the Ultra HD Texture Pack (and enabling the Ultra quality for textures in-game).
Both Reflex and DLSS disappeared from the settings once more, but my fix started working again and the game runs almost flawlessly under DX11.

It does not really make much sense to me as one would naturally expect to lose performance after installing higher quality textures and being unable to use DLSS at the same time, but for whatever reason the exact opposite happened.

I am not home right now, but later I can post screenshots from my in-game menu with installed version of the game visible so that you guys can see I am not making this up.

If anyone else could maybe test it as well and let me know the result that would be great and appreciated!

Have a nice day.

Thanks!
On an older AMD graphics card the game was not working in either of DX11 or DX12.
But the compatibility workaround helped and now it works on DX11.

Try doing the same in the AppData folder. Helped me on dx11

With the installation of the Ultra HD texture pack it became better, but not at all the same as it was, the stuttering are still there. I didn’t notice any changes from the “Disable fullscreen optimizations” and “Run this program as an administrator” checkboxes. My config is 64GB and RX6650.
