Failing to startup - Preparing to launch
Purchased title and let it download. after finishing I attempted to launch the game. It downloaded a Uplay launcher. I have attempted to launch the game from both steam and uplay's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ version of steam. When I attempt to though steam it flashes "preparing to launch" and nothing happens. Through Uplay I click play, and nothing happens at all. No spinning wheel, no popup just nothing... out of 30+ games, this is the first title to ever give me grief as I am a computer Tech. I have attempted to disable the uplay overlay, and cloud saving, without any change. I need input here people.

Thanks

Register in uplay before installing game. Get ur uplay app ready and launch game. Thats it.

Yes, it's worth trying this. Download the UPlay client from our website (the Steam version comes with a UPlay lite, basically): https://uplay.ubi.com/

I already downloaded the full version here https://uplay.ubi.com/#!/en-US/ and registed my game there. No such luck.

OK, I recommend going to https://support.ubi.com and opening a ticket with our support staff. Your system specs and DxDiags would help in getting you a solution on these forums in the meanwhile. Thank you!

Well I contacted support. After a short time of waiting for the "tech" to go over some information, I was disconnected from the chat for inactivity. And my ticket has sense been ignored.

I have found a fix

I gave up with such rubbish and attempted to run rainbox6.exe from explorer, and I was greeted with msvcr100.dll was "missing"
So I skipped my way to microsoft and downloaded C++ distrib and now its working.

I suggest Ubisoft adds this to a common problem post, as I have seen many posts about this, and no rsolution from said posters.

But this request probably falls on deaf ears.

I found a solution. I went into explorer and found the RainbowSix.exe and went into properties and changed the compatibility to windows 8 for my computer and now i can launch and play the game from steam

Thank you SO much. I encountered the same issue and also contacted the inept Ubi support team. I followed your instructions and now it works perfectly. Thank you thank you.
