Base operators are the best starters,
Overall Thermite/Thatcher + Mute/Bandit/Rook are solid options with good reliable weapons.

I do like Rook, I've been messing around with him usually if I'm defending

on defense, play only operators who are on objective, no roamers like caveira etc, so Rook or Doc would be a good choice since they also have bigger zoom scopes available for their weapons. on attack, play thatcher or jackal
