Are Server regions locked?

I tried to change servers and server region was still showing my normal one when I logged into the game? did they remove the ability to change server regions?

Yeah same, can't change server region, ubi automatically puts me in a server region with a low/dead population, thanks for automatically choosing what's best for me ubisoft

Using a VPN or having a friend who is from that region host is the only way sadly.

No is not locked it is working fine.
I my self play EU/US East the only one thing is you have to change this in your config but bet you already know that.
DataCenterHint=playfab/eastus or what other servers are valid you can find it in your config last lines.

Doesn't work anymore, tried going to different server regions but it always go to your "default" region when you start the game, regardless of what region you set in the config file since the newest update, basically ignores the config file.

Nevermind i was wrong, config file was reset with the newest update and i forgot how to configure it right, was missing the "playfab" line on the config file, copied the exact text line in your comment and it finally worked for me! thx.
