Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Newcomer with new maps?
I am currently level 37 and enjoying the game, I've gotten better and when I reach 50 I'll start playing casual, but what is really making me worried is my lack of map knowledge, I've only played the 3 maps bank, constable and chalet, I know much about those maps now but whenever I do dip my toes in casual I just get lost. I know its something you cant just pick up over night but I'd rather play with people of my similar skill level during that giving me a chance to learn more of the maps before I just get destroyed by angry vets. Could this be an option in the future?

Well atm you can practice in Thunt coop or lone wolf, pick a mode & difficultly you're comfortable with and take your time. Good luck @OP.

The most important part here is that you had a chance to get to know basics and vital mechanics of Siege with other newcomers and not with lvl 399 diamonds that are warming up before ranked. atm you can create custom match on any map and spend as much time to research it as you need.

you should start playing 1 casual round every day just to get into the maps and how other players play in casual

Just play it, over and over, yes you will get a different map every time. (Or same 3 trash maps over and over as I do. Probably not xd) But you will get used to them, btw in HUD down on your screen there is a small radar so you know where you are (in what room) and on which floor. Also when you start as defender you can see blueprint of the map. That can help you, even tho not much. Boys above me are right above thunt and custom matches, its useful but boring to be honest, good method of learning stuff but I never used it when i was beginner. You can also watch YTbers and stuff to overall learn new things.

I'm feeling your struggles, I played my R6S account once 2 years ago and let my bro play it ever since. Now I am just getting into it with my now Lvl 97 account getting beat up in casual for 9 hours straight with only 3 kills and a ton of losses to show for it every day for a week. Since then, I've started learning maps on VarsityGaming's youtube channel "Siege School" playlist. Very good information on learning the terminology and do's and don't for beginners. He also goes through some maps in detail with tactics and best operators for each, among other things. Also looking at maps online like r6smaps.com helps a little bit. But nothing beats just getting into a Thunt game and blow up all the things to familiarize yourself with the in's and outs of the map.
