Just had the same error. I was able to fix it by installing the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 from the following link.

didnt work instaling microsoft thing

try going throug your game files(dont know how it is for uplay) and find the 2 rainbowsixseige.exe's. one should be named rainbowsixseige.exe and the other rainbowsixseigegame64(or something along those lines. try the 64 one (or wjatever it is) and it might tell you that you have .dll files missing(this happaned for me today but i fixed it) then just type in google or something on how to repair your .dll thing and once you have found a sorce which has YOU manually put it in the folder then do it and you should be algoods

I did not help, what to do? I had such a problem with the client facet. When I go into the main menu of the game, it lags hard and you have to leave the game, everything is fine without it.
