Try pressing alt+enter twice. That should switch your screen to window mode then to fullscreen

Try this:

  1. Go to Documents -> my games -> Rainbow Six - Siege -> Random number and letters folder -> Gamesettings.ini
  2. Open it on Notepad or Editor
  3. Go to
    WindowMode=1
    (it's should be on 1)
  4. Change it to
    WindowMode=0
  5. Maybe (just try) and set this ini-file to read-only
  6. Start you game and let me know, if that worked.

Thanks for this! I've been running fullscreen since I started playing, but this evening I Alt-Tabbed to watch a YouTube video on Siege graphics options (ironically) and it switched to Windowed mode and wouldn't let me switch back to fullscreen. Using the menu setting or Alt-Enter would cause the screen to flicker black with the occasional window border, repeatedly, until I pressed Alt-Enter again to revert to Windowed. I restarted the game, restarted my PC, and nothing worked.

The .ini tweak did the trick, though. Thanks! :approved: :104:

Hey,

Can you please create a case on the {LINK REMOVED} and {LINK REMOVED} files for further investigation. Thanks!

Tried this and it was set to 0 but still launches as windowed

You need to have the game resolution matching the desktop one.

Hi!
This problem occurred to me every time I tried to play a U-play game, for example R6 siege and Ghost recon Wildlands. I tried a lot of the tips in this and other threads: changing in the game setting file, alt+enter, update graphic drivers, running the games as admin, disable this and that, etc. Nothing worked for me.

However the thing that fixed it for me was to:
Open the Nvidia control panel
Chose monitor 1 as active monitor (even though I only have 1 monitor)
Go to screen settings (in the Nvidia control panel) and to adjust the desktop size and position. Change the scaling to “Full screen”. Apply and save.

After this I was able to play in full screen on my games and could change the resolution in game. Let me know if it worked for you too.

Going to Nvidia control panel and changing refresh reate to 59Hz helped me.

i cant go fullscreen
since my pc is bad the default resolution is 720p fullscreen and i want to change to 1080p fullscreen but when i change to 1080p my screen does change resolution but its just black screen and go back to 720p after few seconds so what i did was change to borderless 1080p and it works but i want to change to fullscreen but it just wont change because my screen went black for few second and did no change at all

i think its because i miss the confirmation on changing resoultion when my screen goes black
