(Rainbow Six Siege) Upgrading from Starter Edition to Standard Edition
Hello. I bought the starter edition on the 8th of June, and I've just now bought the standard edition (I actually bought the pack of four other Rainbow Six games). I guess Steam thinks I don't actually have the full version of Siege.

A bit hard to explain, but Steam has the starter edition on my account as dlc. If I enable it, it starts the game as the starter edition. If I disable it, it brings up something for uplay asking for an activation code, which I never received as I bought the standard edition. Not really much I can do or think about here.

I should probably inform everyone that I don't want to buy the pack where I unlock every operator. I feel as if that would ruin the game's "freshness." In other words, I won't enjoy the game as long as I think I should.

You can't "upgrade", unlocking the operators doesnt ruin the freshness, i got them all including 2 dlc operators within 2 weeks of playing.

and I really dont know why you would buy the standard if you're talking about ruining the "freshness" the starter seems like its your thing since it'll take 10x longer to unlock..

try deleting the starter edition and making a new uplay account and activating the standard edition on that..and theres already too many fkin threads about uplay activation codes..

You should not have been able to buy the Standard edition if you already have the starter pack on your account, Steam counts both as the same entry.

The Starter edition is not upgradeable to the Standard edition, it says so in the FAQ page for the starter pack. You cannot upgrade one to the other and chances are you'll need a refund for the Standard edition.

You also should have at least the Starter Edition activation CD Key, although at the moment there seems to be issues with keys being sent out.

The only way to upgrade versions is to buy the all-soldiers unlocked packs (the ATK and DEF bundles to be precise) and this again was always stated on the FAQ page for the starter pack, you could also start a new account and register a fresh standard edition to it.

Lastly, there is no real sense of progression/unlocks in the standard edition. Operator unlocks in the standard edition are a footnote and there is no real "progression" in either other then access to specific guns/skills. You are not losing much by buing the ATK/DEF packs as the real "grind" is in the various cosmetics etc.

I think I'll just ask for a refund. And yeah, I kind of figured the starter edition and the standard edition both counted as the same thing, basically (not until after I bought it).

should I buy the starter edition or the standard starter seems better cause I don't think the easier unlock is worth an extra 25 bucks

dont necro , make new Topics for it

but to answer your question , dont get Starter

https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/Faqs/000025116/Starter-Edition-FAQ

you would get 6 base Operators for the price of just 1 if you get the Normal version compared to the starter

as someone with stabdard edition , unlocking was super fast actually , but i bought all new operators with real money

This was a long time ago and, personally, I think that the starter edition was most definitely worth it... that is if you really enjoy and support the game. Each operator is 12,500 renown, so you're going to have to grind. Fortunately for me, that wasn't a problem. I feel like buying the starter edition and having to grind out all that money is beneficial to how long you play and enjoy the game. Everyone is different.
